Read all the threads on this here on TMP. Trying to build a large cyber tank ala Bolo or Ogre. Actually not a big fan of the Ogre look (iconic or not) but like the various depictions of Bolos I have seen on the web. So if you were going to kit bash a Bolo – let's say from a 15mm vehicle chassis what would be your approach? My initial thoughts are modify an existing Sci-Fi 15mm tank – anyone have ideas? Mike |

I would look for cheap toy tanks, either modern or sci-fi. And combine that with plasticard and turrets from battleship kits. |

Don't try to make it from a 'real' WW2 tank. It's not gonna look right. There aren't really enough turrets on most plastic kits. I would also remember that it's okay to build UP – you're not gonna have a bolo go hull-down. For turrets, in 15mm, I would not go with 6mm turrets from, say, GHQ or Spartan Games. Cheap battleships, like Quaker says, will be your best bet. Alternately, the lasgun pop-ups from the GW Chimera work well. |

I'd look at some of the super heavy tanks from Battletech or Cav as a start. |

I think you could probably use 10 or 15mm (or even larger) WWII or modern tanks for the chassis, as tracks and bogies and roadwheels are fairly universal. I would definitely want to build entirely new superstructures onto them, though. Also, some of the monster tanks have multiple chassis and sets of tracks (tandem or otherwise), which could be fun to do. For inspiration for a land battleship, there are some models of the P-1000 Ratte on Shapeways. Doug |

Khurasan's 15mm Siler would be a good starting point for a 6mm BOLO/Ogre. The main turret would be of no use, but the secondary turrets and the hull (having 2 banks of tracks on each side) would be a good start to a good-looking vehicle. |

KJ beat me to it. Also, an alternative I've mentioned before for a tandem-hull design would be the tracked 15mm tanks from GZG. The heavy APC looks like it could house a large VLM system on an aft module. The whole thing would be reasonably more size able than a "real" Ogre, but I like my Cybertanks big, personally. |

I started to make one a while back. I bought several cheap 1/72 tank kits
and I found these sets of tiny equipment naval kits, lots of turrets and missile launchers and cranes. Toss in some of those small plastic gumball bubbles
plastic beads
bits of plastic card. I never did make the damn thing but those are the parts I've collected for it. |

I looked at the Warehouse 23 site and found the size of the Mark VI link 3 5/8 by 1 7/8 inches. I am going to look at some of my old ROKO armor to see what fits that into that size. |

Look for old GI Joe vehicles for 15mm
and add on stuff from BATTLESHIP kits and blister turrets from 1:48 WWII bomber kits something like this
Cobra PARALYZER tank from the 1990's line with the main gun assembly removed, reworked, and some more bubble turrets added you got your BOLO right there! |

I'd also look at this article by Germy.. link |

I made these from old model kits mostly.
