"Mounted Moloitsy served as auxiliary units for numerous masses of Zaporozhian infantry rallied under the banner of St. Michael the Archangel. They served as recon units, often used to chase enemy's units, but they prefered to fight as dismounted infantry protected by war wagons. So they were similar formation to dragoons, but more irregularly equipped
