Didn't see this elsewhere, apologies if it is a repeat
The Royal Navy, using an American UAV, have recorded detailed high-res sonar images of two LSTs lost to German torpedo attacks during "Operation Tiger" on April 28th 1944. "Operation Tiger" was a rehearsal for the D-Day landings. The attack killed 749 soldiers and sailors. The images will be donated to the UK National Archive and local memorials. link |

I HATE pages that don't load right away, and then when they do, they come with some dammed woman's voice and the page still won't scroll. Lame

Worked for me too
interesting images-perhaps they would have done better using the sides can feature and not pass directly over the target
.avoiding the 'black hole' down the centre
reminds me of Osprey maps that 'fall' into the book spine on a two page spread
a pet peeve! |

It works but doesn't seem to tell me more than the title and what I knew already. I remember visiting Slapton Sands about 30 years ago. Tragic story – someone SNAFU'd as I recall and allowed 2[?] E-Boats to sneak in and wreak havoc. Didn't some of the men drown because they had their Mae West's on wrongly? Most of these disasters are still kept quiet to this day. |
