What? No Robo brothel!?

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2014 9:37 p.m. PST

LOL. You're right! I knew there was something missing.

This other place must have something for man or bot to use as a watering hole:

Dan,

Those slovenly squatters down in Hovellford have a saloon.

Up here in lovely Shackham we have a bar and grille.

Of course in Jøkulhavn they have a pub, but we hardly ever go there.

Ancestral Hamster27 Apr 2014 10:15 p.m. PST

Don't have a SF frontier town, but if I did, it would have a saloon and a brothel. Between those two locales scenarios would just write themselves!

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2014 10:27 p.m. PST

Those two professions do seem to go hand in hand (often under the same roof) and definitely they always had a history of making life in town mighty interesting!

Here's some staff for the Robo Brothel.

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2014 10:55 p.m. PST

Weren't there also some robo girls in Total Recall (2012)?

In addition to the other fleshy ones:

Those buildings are lovely, I have often dreamed of making a sci fi version of Deadwood, with scifi versions of the characters, then have the Firefly team come to town, what a mix, 2 of the best TV shows around, if you were to throw in a zombie horde and a cheeky dwarf, you would have 4 of the 5 best shows ever, to have all 5 you would need a time machine to take the whole lot back to Rome.

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2014 11:12 p.m. PST

Found one! But it's not the best pic of one really.

That is some excellent paintwork on those neon signs.
Shame the hotel does not have more rooms though.

Stealth100028 Apr 2014 3:02 a.m. PST

Been planning on having one. But those pics have inspired me to get it started soon. Great pics Dan. Really nice.

War Monkey28 Apr 2014 4:44 a.m. PST

Not as of yet, but now that you have brought it up, l'm going to have to get on it, and a brothel as well to boot

TK 42128 Apr 2014 5:29 a.m. PST

Yes! We want a brothel! Those robo ho's are funny.

Cacique Caribe28 Apr 2014 6:42 a.m. PST

I'd be a bit too afraid of being "shocked" by them!

Dan

morrigan28 Apr 2014 7:53 a.m. PST

You have to pay extra for that! ;)

I like the town ! But stay away from the Fembots … you could get a virus … huh?

Weddier28 Apr 2014 8:33 a.m. PST

I like the "Iron Horse" parking spaces. Charge up! There are actually a couple in a city park near me. They look almost the same.

Sweet! Now we have a place to look for a fight every Unification Day!

I especially like what that first guy did with the neon lighting. Spot on!

The other day a fembot walked in she had a pair of 38s, she also had a gun!

I'm surprised no one suggested 'cantina'.

I've oft thought of trying the kit sitting in my garage, but looks too tight as is. Need to adjust some space into it to move figs through.

Hey Jav98, what did you do last U-Day (Sept 20)? Did you make sure to toast the victory over the "innepenet" cowards and Bleeped textpots?

You've gotta have holo-windows at your bar though:

While you're at it, get yourself a couple of 15mm belly dancers … (though I don't know who makes them in 15mm):

Those dancers are pretty nice too! :D

The GO GO haaaa. There was a place named that on Okinawa. Lots of fights on pay day weekends!

grommet3728 Apr 2014 2:34 p.m. PST

My two favorite names for decidedly redneck places were the Come Back Inn (in my hometown) and the Dew Drop Inn (in that Charlie Daniel's song). Ditto payday fights and drunkenness at the former. Ah… high school.

War Monkey28 Apr 2014 8:05 p.m. PST

In my younger days "The Golden Key" in Panama, Panama Rum, women and fights almost made you feel like a Pirate.

Fictional would be Madam Woo Woo's from the movie "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Together Again" ;D

The Event Horizon is the drinking man's dive of choice in Harmony. It bears an uncanny resemblence to the Go Go Handome Mens Bar (A thoroughly disreputable establishment by all acounts….) grin

Cacique Caribe01 May 2014 10:50 p.m. PST

Anyone tried to convert a plastic HO scale Old West or trackside building kit into an SF bar of some sort?

Dan

grommet3701 May 2014 10:58 p.m. PST

Dan,

I think I'm going to buy one of GameCraft's Wired West buildings for at least one of my gin joints. Seemed like a pretty fair deal to me.

Cacique Caribe01 May 2014 11:24 p.m. PST

Peter Pig has a great selection of 15mm Wild West buildings that, with a few small modifications, I'm sure could be turned into 15mm "Wired West"!

Mine would have to include a few hover bots tending bar and doing other cool jobs around the establishment:

Which brings me to the following question …

What specific 15mm figures would you use for 1) patrons*, 2) bartenders, 3) serving girls, 4) bouncers, 5) game dealers, etc?

Dan
* Patrons both sitting and standing.

Those are the ones. For around 20 bucks, seems well worth it.

I like the ones with the "porthole" windows.

When I get to building Hovellford, I'll definitely post some pics.

Cheers.

I have totally forgot about Blue Moon's saloon stuff, Thanks for the reminder :D

TK 42105 May 2014 5:38 a.m. PST

Converting a railroad saloon eh. That sounds like a great idea, specially for someone that may not have the time to sit down and scratch build one. Follow the link below and click on the Layout tab for the structures menu. lots to check out inside.

No saloon template here, but plenty of templates for rockets and other flying things, if you want to incorporate some of those pieces into the building itself:

Guys,

Check out this concept sketch:

Dan

War Monkey31 May 2014 5:59 a.m. PST

That is really sweet, and one could easily add a couple of extra rooms, nice find there :D

Cacique Caribe31 May 2014 8:14 p.m. PST

I think that, instead of just wood, it should incorporate metal siding in some areas, along with metal beams and other supports.

Guys,

I've been gathering some of the materials I may need for my own version of a frontier bar/saloon (in a Firefly/Serenity-like universe), with a West meets East look.

Anyway here are some pics of the stuff I may end up using:

link

Above-
2 thin plywood sections, 12cm by 17cm, one for the floor and the other for the second floor. Plastic plate will be the top roof section. It measures 4" by 4" along the flat center area.

link

Above-
Upper left: Beads for making Chinese lanterns.
Lower left: Chinese "coins". I may use the smaller ones as round tables.
Upper center: A small barrel bead to use as a vase of some sort.
Lower center and right: Plastic pins that I have cut to make bar stools. The tiny washers will be the bases for the stools.

link

Above-
Again, the plastic plate will become the top roof.
The punched pieces on the right will be wall and window panels and screens.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Dan

The interior of the bar/saloon should end up looking a little like the interior of the Rekall Lounge:

shivmoo.com/?author=1

The outside should be like the many pictures above, mixing various Western and tech elements, and including lots of corrugated and other metal sheeting:
