Hello everybody, I am going to take a little break in my current painting project to try out some of the new Perry Continentals. My question is a while ago I read an article on uniforms of the Americans at Saratoga. I think that it was in a issue of the Seven Years War Association Journal.

Does anybody have a copy of this article?

I've not seen this article, but from Philip Katcher's book "Uniforms of the Continental Army" it seems that very few American units had uniforms until October – including the artillery and cavalry – and not many hunting shirts were issued to the Northern Army (quite likely only Morgan's men who came up from the Main Army under Washington). Whether Continentals or Militia, civilian dress would overwhelmingly have been the order of the day.
