Hi For those interested in the Missouri/Kansas border war take a look at companyd.co.uk I have sets of Confederate Guerrilla's mounted and unmounted available. Also they are featured in the May edition of Wargames illustrated. Regards Phil |

Nice figures! They look like they could serve as armed civilians for a number of conflicts of the 1850s-1870: the pre-war "Bleeding Kansas" fighting, the Utah militia for the Stone Fort seige, or the Sioux War in Minnesota. As individuals, they could scruffy up any Confederate regiment or take part in Fenian US-Canada border activity. Finally, they could provide the Denver Citizens Militia hoping to protect the whiskey shipment from "Hallelujah Trail," or the No Name City militia come to redirect the French tarts from "Paint Your Wagon." Pretty cool! Grelber "I'm an old Kansas man myself, born and bred in the heart of the western wilderness." |

Now that is interesting! Not an often covered period of the conflict (Wargames Foundry also made some figures for Missouri and so forth). These look like they would be perfect to use with Brother Against Brother, Sharpe's practice or other similar skirmish rule set. |

Thanks guys- Just to follow on, I have nearly finished a skirmish set of eight mounted 'Missouri State Militia' which will be closely followed by a Command set – then some foot. |

Nice looking figures. A set of John Brown and sons would be nice. For Bleeding Kansas and Harper's ferry. |

very, very cool indeed!!! and I have to say that 'ride with the devil' is one of my favourite films
one of those with a genuine authentic feel to it! |

GoodOldRebel, I agree 100%, I'll be watching it again this weekend. |

another very good read is "bloody dawn; the story of the Lawrence massacre" by Thomas Goodrich
.the Lawrence raid so evocatively portrayed in ride with the devil is described from its causes, through the event itself to its dreadful aftermath! really goes in-depth is describing not just the major players but individual townsmen who lived and died that day! |

a few other titles that may be of interest; # gray ghosts of the confederacy; guerilla warfare in the west 1861-1865/s. brownlee # bloody bill anderson; the short, savage life of a civil war guerilla/albert castel and thomas goodrich # three years with quantrill; a true story told by his scout john mccorckle/o.s. barton # general sterling price and the civil war in the west/albert castel * * this title isnt direcly about guerilla operations but it does shed some light on the often tentative and awkward relationship between regular forces and the guerilla's |

I hear some ringing endorsements for Ride With the Devil
.I avoided this one previously because I thought it was some kind of promotion vehicle for Jewel
.now I will have to check into it |
GoodOldRebel | 06 May 2014 12:19 p.m. PST |
to be fair the film could lose jewel and be no worse for it
but she isn't bad

I have Missouri state militia troopers coming out imminently with a command set to follow and to fill the mould I thought of doing a few enrolled Missouri militia. |
