Well it's their project, I guess they can develop and market what they want to, and in the way they think best. It's not like Gripping Beast is new to the business.

Warning – Rant ahead

Their forums have a couple people bemoaning the new scale…seriously, just don't buy them if you already have models.

I have this perfectly good horn, why would they make a cup…it must be a marketing ploy…oh why have you forsaken us horn users with your fancy new cups…

It's a bunch of whining from old men, they are right to ignore it, they openly said use what ever you like for minis. That is their official stance, why do people keep thinking there is some conspiracy?

I know this is ranty, but why when a company comes out with something nice, do people feel the need to talk about it in a unflattering light? Did they decide not to post about it where YOU asked them, or do they have 50 other people asking them to explain themselves when they already have.

I personally like the 35mm minis they have, I haven't purchased them as I will shop around to see what else is available, in any scale (saw some really nice 54mm gladiators) and pick what I like the most. And I appreciate that they understand that.

I think the cards are not sold as a package because each player needs a set of cards. So for two players you need one set of rules and two packs of cards.

The figures are nice, but they are a silly price.
As someone who owns no gladiator figures, the choice is:
Buy 4 (very nice, but in a different scale to all my other figures) gladiators from GB for £20.00 GBP – or £60.00 GBP for all 12
Buy 12 very nice 28mm gladiators from Steve Barber for £14.00 GBP
Buy 12 very nice 28mm gladiators from Foundry for £24.00 GBP
Buy 12 very nice 28mm gladiators from Crusader for £16.80 GBP

But I don't feel the need to rant about it; nobody forces you to buy the GB figures.

Actually, the new scale makes sense to me. We are talking about a really small skirmish game. Each figure becomes critical to the play of the game. So you only need a handful of character figures and the bigger scale allows more personalization and gives a better look. The pricing of the figures probably reflects the understanding at GB that they are not going to sell a high volume of figures.

Gw Inquisitor Game. 54mm vs normal GW 28mm. Lasted a few years and then died. No-one wanted to buy into new terrain, new miniatures at the bigger scale. Keeping in 28mm scale would have made so much better sense.
