Hi all – some help please.

I am after a non-game system specific random encounter generator – preferably a pdf if possible.

I intend to start some solo RPG – I have to be away quite a bit for work and thought I might take some role-playing stuff with me (not too much to carry though)…probably D&D style stuff. I was thinking of picking up an adventure module as well and working my way through it, not necessarily following it rigidly but just to generate some interesting encounters.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Check out the D30 Sandbox Companion. It is generic enough to use for any fantasy overland campaigning (though it does include stats/tables for various incarnations or OSR-D&D). The drive-thru RPG preview is fairly comprehensive and gives you a good flavor of what to expect for your purchase (which is a deal at $5 USD).

See here:

The d30 DM companion (by the same guy) is great for underground adventuring if you like that (but is a bit more D&D specific). I'm curious to hear what others use as I do mostly solo gaming myself…

And one great, online, free resource:
donjon.bin.sh

Good luck! If you discover other alternatives, please share!

Thank you very much dar916 – that is brilliant. I really appreciate the help.

I have purchased and downloaded the Sandbox companion – absolutely superb – and I have bookmarked the free resource.

Thanks

There's a blog I follow called The Dungeon Dozen roll1d12.blogspot.com that is nothing but D12 random generation charts. Hundreds of them at this date.
He put out book (which I bought) collecting the earliest ones, but otherwise they're free for the looking. Not all are encounters, not all are straight serious, but there's tons of ideas there at the roll of a dice.

Not exactly what the OP is asking for but worth a look anyway since it could be of use for solo play/generation.

Dar916,

Thank you for posting that link:

donjon.bin.sh

I was unaware of that site . . . but I've already generated some Inns and Dungeons from it. Excellent!

Thank you again, sir.

Thank you all for your help. That site is excellent Spacemonkey.

I will take a look at the GME stuff and get back to you JJ, thanks for that.
