I was under the impression they were metal figures, painted here as the Battalion Towarczys (5 squadrons) and not the regiment Towarczys (10 squadrons)- both formed the Towarczy corps – unfortunatly here all are painteds as NCOs, for more see

They are metal figures.

Is the difference between NCO and the others the plume colour? Should it be with black tip for the NCO the rest only white?

von Winterfeldt25 Apr 2014 3:52 a.m. PST

@Roediwest

Take your time and follow the link I provided above, it starts with Prussian Dragoons but soon in delves into the Towarcys and you will find a wealth of information

@von Winterfeldt

I already took time to follow the link.
Maybe I misunderstood something.
Therefore please be so kind to tell me why all figures are painted as NCO's. I think the problem is the sculting of the figures.
All figures wear sabretaches, therefore could not be officers.
But the two figures without lance have a visor on their tschako.
The two figures without Lance carry pistols all other are equipped with carabiniers.

The Bavarian25 Apr 2014 8:14 a.m. PST

The two figures with the visor are officers. The other simply rank and file.

@Winterfeldt – I read your excellent article, but I can't really find a fault here. The guy who painted the figures is Peter Schuchhardt who studies uniformology and is creating colourplates himself at compagnie-d-elite.de/.
I am sure he would apreciate some help if there is a mistake in the painting.

to answer shortly, in case I can trust my eyes all plumes are painted white and black, this colour was usually reserved for NCOs, Edelmänner or Carabiniers (which carried a carabine and no lance)- the officers plume had the same colour but a different shape.

The usual Towarzcy had a white plume.

The Bavarian25 Apr 2014 1:13 p.m. PST

true, but NCO's would have a piping as usual on the collar. So let us agree they are all Edelmänner?

You are right, the usual Towarzcy had the white plume.
Officer's had a bigger plum with white over black.

cheers
