I'm telling my story in the hopes you won't make the same mistakes.

So, I'm drinking and watching the Canes baseball game, AND ordering Blue Moon native spearmen from their 15mm DA range.

I picked a set, tribe 8, 'cause they are generic, and easy to paint! (I need 6 units by Saturday).

Just primer with chocolate paint, paint the spear and loincloth and hair, higlight and wash, and DONE!

I noticed on BM's website that the faces were a bit goofy, exaggerated, over the top, and I figured it was the sculptor's license.

I get my figures, and ……They are wearing masks! small facemasks (like you see from Ghana and such for wall decorations)

Damn!

Don't get me wrong, they look COOL and terrifying, but now I gotta detail paint some scary faces on the masks (can't just leave 'em boring, gotta be over the top scary)

So, when you drink and watch baseball and order, LOOK closer, or better yet, have a freind check your order!

:)

Woah! Just painted 10 masks in the time I posted the original topic. They are EASY!

False alarm. Drink, watch Canes baseball and order away!

Sergeant Paper23 Apr 2014 3:16 p.m. PST

Just put them in facepaint supporting the U net time, bart!

Smokey Roan23 Apr 2014 3:19 p.m. PST

holy crap! I WILL sport one unit of Canes facemasks! Great idea! I like it, I like it alot!

Smokey Roan23 Apr 2014 5:04 p.m. PST

Damn they look good! Well done Blue Moon!

Can't wait to paint up a Canes unit!

corporalpat23 Apr 2014 5:24 p.m. PST

Pics please if you can?

You ought to do them in different ACC colors per tribe. ;)

I was thinking about doing that for a Might and Reason Imagenations armies. SEC vs ACC or maybe the Pac 10.

WarWizard23 Apr 2014 5:41 p.m. PST

That tribe 8 looks like they would be great in a Tarzan style adventure. Did not notice the masks before, thanks for the info.

Smokey Roan23 Apr 2014 6:09 p.m. PST

I know. They just looked like they were making dramatic faces, LOL!

(I look just like them when I see a chubby girl at Winn Dixie!)

They are GREAT, though. Easy to paint, and with the shield combo, could be any bad guy you want!

I will post pics

*facepalm*

Now I'm going to have to find my Natives to see if they have the masks too.

Smokey Roan23 Apr 2014 7:40 p.m. PST

They are great! I finished the first unit, dull coated them, then used a paint pen to draw in scary faces on the masks, then overcoated again.

Very nice!

I have bags of Foundry natives in masks and now I'm inspired to get 'em in the production line.

Pix or it didn't happen!

Seriously, lets see what they look like!

I should paint mine like TAMU, but since they are ignorant savages, I'll make them Longhorns instead…

I went to UT for three years, my wife actually graduated, yet I approve of the above joke.

Painful or not, the truth is the truth.

Absolutely! You know the rules, no bragging about cool paintjobs or terrain layouts without evidence!!!

(this board really needs one of those animated gifs of a disgruntled-looking smiley face tapping one hand with a baseball bat held in the other!)

Smokey Roan25 Apr 2014 2:58 p.m. PST

OK, Lion!

Now put THAT in your pipe and smoke it, Lion! :)

It was too sunny out, couldn't get a pick worth a damn. This is the 10 man Canes unit. Before a GW Nulin Oil wash to make them blacker.

Lion in the Stars28 Apr 2014 9:51 a.m. PST

Ok, I'll call off the guys with baseball bats…

Evidence accepted! wink

Smokey Roan28 Apr 2014 7:53 p.m. PST

:)

You better, the last guy with a baseball bat that messed with Smokey caught a G Loomis ultralight rod upside the head! :)

I was like Deniro in that Cape Fear movie! :)
