Huh… well, those are neat and all, but I already made a couple dozen just like them by picking lava rocks out of my neighbor's yard, painting them grey, and mounting them on the same cheap plastic flight bases that are shown in those pics. Cost me about a half-hour of work and less than I'd spend on a cup of Starbucks. I think they would be better off adding something which you can't find from other vendors, like a detailed asteroid base, a mining operation, or something else that inspires the "Wow, cool!" factor in people.

I went by a local big chain hardware/supply store and told the guy I was looking for a small bag for a project, not the big bulk bags. He said they didn't have anything smaller. Then he said, "How many of these rocks do you need?" "About a dozen or so," I replied. "Wait a second," he says. Then he roots around the pallet, and hands me a handful. "We've always got a broken bag in the mix. Here ya' go."

So they're now waiting to be drilled, mounted, primed and painted.

I know you can buy smaller bags for use in a gas grill, but since my neighbor had a whole side-yard filled with them, he told me I could take as many as I wanted. They do look awesome on the table.

Something like these would have been nice to see in that KS:

True, but the smallest I found anywhere was 7 lbs! I don't need that many rocks, cheap or not.

But I'm very happy to have a dozen for free! grin
