Hi guys, I need another sci fi army like I need a hole in the head, I probably have a few dozen tucked away in the stash, but I can't help my self, so if I were to only do 1 more human near future hard sci fi army, what should it be? from memory I already have these similar armies (I wont include my 40K human armies) Khurasan Exterminators Khurasan Control battalion Khurasan Neo Soviets Blue Moon Post Human GZG NI GZG NAC Eureka Sci fi Germans So if I were to do 1 more, I would narrow it down to one of the following, but which one? Kurasan Gota Clan khurasanminiatures.tripod.com Nice details and weapons the poses are very natural 5 packs, command,SAWs and rifles and support weapons 21 poses, including support weapons Clearhorizon Hell Divers link Nice details and weapons excellent action poses, love the kneeling massive 24 poses (I think) Excellent unique character figures, the guy with the combat knife and pistol is very cool. at first I thought the necks were a little long, but they have grown on me and I really like the look. GZG Pan African Union link Nice details and weapons 16 poses, however, no command figures as yet I love their rolled up sleeves, I was thinking of giving this army a jungle them, so this is a great detail. I like the helmet design on these figs, and they have an interesting soft cap as well, would suit a jungle theme. GZG RANG link 20 poses, including support weapons, command and rifles probably the most near future of the bunch except Ozzy Oz. Rolled sleeves, would work the same as above, but more poses than the PAU troops. Ozzy Ozmy New Vistula legion link I think there's a huge 29 poses, with excellent snipers and characters, and this is not including the winged hussars. I think this range might be on the smallish side though Poses are natural, but a little static. They have a nice Russian look, but I already have the Neo Soviets I am leaning towards the Hell divers for their details and dynamic poses, plus 24 different poses is good, but they probably don't have the jungle look I would like, or the RANG, slightly less poses, and not as dynamic, but would look great as jungle troops, or the Gota Clans as they are a growing range. what are your thoughts on the available near future human ranges out there, can you recommend any lines with a good range of poses and would make good jungle troops? Cheers Dan |

Not to get involved in the substance of your question, as I think I'm somewhat biased, , but the GOTA Clans have five packs rather than three: Rifles -- 6 poses Fusion guns -- 3 poses Squad heavy weapons -- 4 poses Platoon heavy/support weapons -- 5 poses Command and casualty -- 3 poses For a total of 21 completely different poses
no head swaps as new poses either. |

OK, thats cool, I couldn't verify, because you are down for maintenance and was going a lot from memory, so thats looking a bit better, changed the original post, thanks. |

Yes, completely understood. Also this range really caught fire so more poses are being made. Looks like you've edited your appraisal above, cheers. |

I have a bunch of the GOTA figs and they're very good. My problem is I've changed my mind on a paint scheme like 3 times and I'm going to have to strip them and start over. I think a jungle cammo paint scheme on them would be very cool and with your skill would do them justice. I also had a shed load of the NVL and loved painting them. I think they are actually a little heftier than the khurasan ranges with the exception of the exterminators. I also think there's not a ton of difference between those two particular codes. I hope that helps a little. |

The GOTA clan are really nice. I bought a bunch to do a platoon of the English Dropship Regiment (from the Union series by Phillip Richards, a good hard sci-f series by a serving infantry NCO). I also have some Hell Divers coming, but they look more like special forces than line troopers, though you could makeup the lack of heavy weapons with vehicles. |

You have chosen well and i would be happy with any in your list but if i had to pick one as a near future force it would have to be the New Vistula Legion, the only reason ive not bought them is that i have read they are true 15mm which is just to small for me to paint these days. Not on your list but another force that is looking good is the new GZG Colonial Defense Force, i think they would make a great NATO force they also have cap variants and im sure that more will be added to the range soon. link

jtipp68 – OK, I am leaning a bit more towards the Gota, now that I know the line is expanding, but not 100% sold yet, I'm now wondering about the expansion plans of the other lines. Quaker – yes the Hell Divers are SF looking, but thats OK with me. Avamango – yeah I looked at the CDF line, they are nice, but had to narrow down, the FSE line almost made it to, I really didn't like the original sculpts, but the re sculpts are brilliant, with they had rolled sleevs, that may have tipped it. |

Actually Oddzial Osmy New Vistula legion has 58 poses, counted them lately (f.ex. there are 5 random poses of commanders (hat/helmet) while Pico Armor shows only three of them). Buying one piece of every sets You have guaranteed at least 50 pose, though. link link Excluding 9 poses of exoskeletoned Winged Hussares, of course. And NVL are proportioned well to GZG. Just they have thinner base. I am not in any way connected to O8, other that it is based in my country. :) |

I disagree, the hell divers are some of the nicest 15mm figures on the market. Do them next. |
Underfire Wargaming | 23 Apr 2014 10:16 a.m. PST |
I would vote for all of them, but Clear horizon does get first place from me, but all of them I would say would be the best ;). |

GOTA vs. NVL ! God forbid the moment that I have to make that choice! Love em both, but what tanks and vehicles for each, now that's the question. Do NVL first. They are a little further along than GOTA just now. As ever you mileage may very. |
AVAMANGO | 23 Apr 2014 10:27 a.m. PST |
And NVL are proportioned well to GZG. Just they have thinner base. Does anyone have any scale examples to show a NVL figure next to a GZG figure, i would really like to see if there is any difference in their proportions. |

i think i prefer the gotas
i thought i was going to like the helldrivers but they have very long heads and necks so that put me off them. polish legion guys have big heads and are a little small. i guess i have major head issues!!! :-) |

Do you not have Rebel's Titan Marines? I'm quite tempted by K's teasing of those Aviation Commandos and their extraterrestrial opponents, too. For some farther-future options, I'm chasing down minis to use for Tagon's Toughs (of Schlock Mercenary fame). So far, this has been a lot of Khurasan's aliens, and a few not-Trek humans. Plus those 25mm Blasted Planets Pachydon, because the Schlockverse has nellies! Why, yes, I do have ADDOS (correction: ADHLAS, Attention Defi
Hey, look! A Squirrel!) when it comes to 15mm scifi

I will try to make some photos of NVL and others. I have to admit i love anatomically corect figures of Khurasan, Rebel Minis and CMG. |
MrHarold | 23 Apr 2014 2:16 p.m. PST |
I think all the options you mentioned are really top notch. In fact, I have all of them! Really, go with what inspires you the most! Good luck! And since I can, I'll put in a vote for the Hell Divers! |

For me its GOTA, GZG tomorrows war hard suit USA troops and Oddzial Osmy New Vistula legion. That's what is on my list as of next purchases. |
McWong73 | 23 Apr 2014 3:40 p.m. PST |
NVL is a great range, but they are noticeably smaller than the other ranges. Quality product, but a non starter for me due to size. Khurasan Nova Respublik are a big range, my choice for space Russians. |
Gunner Dunbar | 23 Apr 2014 3:59 p.m. PST |
I am coming to the realization that I will not be able to stick to 1, aagghhhh. |

That is a problem. NVL is on my list of figures for a army. I just need to get a few of the ones I have done
.. Good luck with your quest! |
MrHarold | 23 Apr 2014 6:42 p.m. PST |
I don't find the NFL smaller at all, but that's my experience. |
AVAMANGO | 23 Apr 2014 9:50 p.m. PST |
I don't find the NFL smaller at all, but that's my experience. I've just read that the NVL troops are a bit on the small side, but seeing them next to a few other miniatures from different companies i agree and think they size up well enough for me. If i were to invest in them my only concern would be the random mix of troopers, that would drive me crazy not having the full range a bit like a itch that you cant reach to scratch, i don't see why they cant be sold in packs with all the differently posed troopers. |
Gunner Dunbar | 23 Apr 2014 11:57 p.m. PST |
Yeah the NVL size looks allright. |

I love the armies army British
I have some micropanzer sas for heavy infantry
.top gun tanks and those warfighter mechs might work together Gzg NSL
the new sculpts are amazing looking in person
. I agree on the clearhorizon troops they have grown on me..waiting for my goodies soon
so I can see them up close So many to choose from its a wild world in 15mm |

For a long time we don't have random packs of NVL troopers – all poses in both sets are unique. Marcin Oddzial Osmy |

So much good stuff out there! The NVL is an outstanding line being able to fit in any post modern to future scenario as are the GZG CDF. I am definitely getting both in the near future. I'm waiting for khurasan to open back up to place an order there for some vehicles. I'm working on the T.O. & E for my New Israeli army first. Once that's done I can eyeball more of these goodies and decide where to go next. |

Wondering how the following should scale. Factions and ranges (some I already own: need to paint & play – asterisk). *Atlantic Alliance – Rebel Minis Earth Force Space Marines *Severny Federation – Rebel Minis EF Red Guards PanHuman Union – Armies Army PLA, Rebel Minis Sahadeen (possibly Khurasan Jong-Pac, if and when) *Novaboreans/9th Interglobal – Rebel Minis Zombie Hunters, Khurasan Armed Antarctic Explorers, Khurasan Antarctic Command/HW pack, Khurasan Hazmat Troopers (eventually also Khurasan Unarmed Antarctic Explorers) Cerulean Coalition – Rebel Minis Titan Marines I'll also have some Alien Androids and some Dark Guardians, but they are beyond the scope of this thread. By the way, turnaround on in-stock Rebel Minis stuff is practically immediate. Other ranges have been well worth waiting for, and it's all in a cupboard awaiting painting anyway. |
artbraune | 24 Apr 2014 7:45 p.m. PST |
I have been eyeing buying more of Keith's Armies Army PLA (love the visors) and his Enemy Unknown line. Hopefully some cool vehicles soon too
Also the Flytrap Factory Warfighter Epoch Penal Troopers seem to be a good fit for a hard SciFi army. I think quite a few of the suggestions above are solid too and worth further study. |
