there's really no point in bringing up the fact that this is not great netiquette. he is immune to people mentioning that. all it does is give his duplicate postings more attention

And I for one would have missed this information had Armand not posted it. How does that square with the standards of netiquette you find of such concern?

And aren't most rules of netiquette relics from the days of phone modems and incredibly long downloading times, which would have made multiple posts more a pain in the hinder? |

no i don't think so. no matter how fast communications are it's best to keep discussion on one subject in one thread, so it's simple good manners if you have something to say about a topic to add it to the existing thread rather than make your own new one just because you want to be the conversation starter. luckily there's only one member here who does it rampantly. course there's always going to be some guy encouraging ten threads about the same subject saying "i would have missed it so thank you for posting another thread about the exact same subject" lol fact is, if you missed it, fine, then if he had posted something in the existing thread, bouncing it to the top, you would have seen it then, and it's still one location for all the discussion

In your humble opinion.
course there's always going to be some guy encouraging ten threads about the same subject saying "i would have missed it so thank you for posting another thread about the exact same subject" lol Just as there are those who resort to straw man arguments to justify wasting their allegedly precious time criticizing a particular person who reposts things every now and again along with posting a great deal of new information out of a self evident enthusiasm for our shared hobby.
fact is, if you missed it, fine, then if he had posted something in the existing thread, bouncing it to the top, you would have seen it then, and it's still one location for all the discussion
.. Fact is, is that if you find it such a waste of your time, why even bother commenting? Isn't that an even greater waste of your time, feeding the repeated topic thread with additional posts?
