"Lots going on in this first trailer for NBC‘s new pirate drama. Crossbones stars a white-goateed John Malkovich as Blackbeard — Genius. Madman. Legend., we're told — who reigns over a rogues gallery of outlaws and miscreant sailors in 1715. He comes up against Tom Lowe (Richard Coyle), an assassin masquerading as a physician who is sent to the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas, and tasked with taking out the ruthless and much-feared Blackbeard. Swashbuckling, torture, explosions and pillowing ensue. The cast also includes Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Yasmine Al Massri and Tracy Ifeachor. Have a look, ye landlubbers" See here link Hope you enjoy!. Amicalement Armand |

Well I have always like Richard Coyle but the show looks like it will be ehhh much like Blacksails. Il'll still give it a go. |

Looks like the PG version of Blacksails including a variation on the plot line. |

Malkovich is a very fine actor, but why cast someone who apparently does not want to look like the real Blackbeard?? |

Have to agree, I like Malkovich but Brian Blessed would be a far better Blackbeard.

Whitemanticore, you are so right! If ever a man was born to portray Blackbeard, it's Brian Blessed. |

It just isn't Blackbeard.Of all the pirates he is the one that they should leave alone. He is iconic. Mark |

Read Angus Konstam's book about him. He wasn't all that successful a pirate! Of course none of them were up to their elbows in doubloons. Most were living in a subsistence circumstance. The likes of Drake might have been getting cargoes of gold and silver, but by 1715 it was tobacco, hides, other commodities. |

"
but by 1715 it was tobacco, hides, other commodities". Especially once the hurricane sunk the Spanish treasure fleet, along the Florida coast, on its way from Cuba. A lot of privateers/pirates did get very wealthy by plundering the Spanish/Cuban "fishing" camps, which were trying to recover the gold from the sunken vessels in the shallow FL waters, in 1715, and early 1716. |

Crossbones has indeed been cancelled after 1 season. We almost didn''t get the last two episodes aired. Reviews were mixed. Personally, I fund it rather dull and historically incorrect. |

I liked Black Sails better. Mark |
