Here's a dead easy tutorial on how to use miniature washes to make the foliage on your wargames terrain more realistic. I cover the basic technique as was as applying it to scatter, flock, static grass and clump foliage etc. youtu.be/Jy3X50EXsZs Hope you like it guys. Mel |

Nice work and tutorial. Never thought of using washes that way. Definitely need to try it on some projects coming up. Thanks for posting it! |

Might be cheaper to get some water and then put some paint into it to muddy it up. Because those little tubs of GW washes are not cheap. Then what is coming from GW now days. |

Very informative! Did you have any problems with your moist brush picking up fragments of flock and static grass and thus contaminating your pot of GW wash? I have some older terrain pieces that I now plan to re-vitalize using your technique! |

I think its a great idea and very effective thankyou for sharing it, with regards to pot contamination oooer lol just put some onto a palette to avoid contamination and away you go. |

Something else that might work for it would be to use one of the plastic pippettes you can get in massive numbers from a lot of stores. Might end up looking a little bit more irregular with the mix. It also could be simpler if you're mixing PVA & water to seal it down in the end, add a bit of wash to some of that near the end and have fun. |

@Iron Ivan Keith – No worries mate, you'll love the effect @vtsaogames – Anytime mate :o) @Mithmee – Totally agree mate, you can use alsorts of washes although it actually doesn't use much at all because you're dampening the flock not soaking it mate. @Stealth1000 – Cool, let me know how you get on mate @dBerczerk – not really but I seal my flock and static grass with watered down pva mate. Also those washes are my 'terrain' washes, I should have mentioned that ;-/ @Raptoruk369 – Cheers mate, perfect way of doing it @Borathan – Nice idea mate, not sure about mixing it with the watered down pva, it's the irregularity of the dampening effect that gives it it's realism. Applying like that might not give the variation needed and just tone it. If you give it a go, let me know how you get on please mate :-) |

When mixing it in, there can be irregularity if you keep track of where you've sealed it already and keep adjusting the mix as you go to add variety. Just keep track of where you sprayed before as you go along and end up filling the entire thing. If you're using a spray bottle, it actually ends up working better because you don't end up messing with the flock, static grass, and everything else. |

I'll have to give it a go next time I've got some test pieces to seal. Thanks for the idea matey. |
