Impressive lot you have there! I have a bunch of the Grump Portuguese filling in for Colonial Spanish, English Adventurers, etc. Good idea about the Halberds. Look forward to your progess. |

but I've ordered some 'Simple Green' to strip the bad undercoat and start again. |

Just finished my Spanish army for IW and am exactly in the same beginning position for Grumpy's Portuguese. One of the things I like about building these armies is that you. can mix together figures from different manufacturers to add lots of variety to each base. My Spanish army has figures from seven different manufacturers. Indeed the armies are not massive, but when you provide all the options, they can still mount up. Spanish army has a total of 21 bases. After the Portuguese I'm going to put together Aztecs, Moghuls, and Ottomans from already painted armies that just need rebasing. I do wish though, Doctorphalanx, that I had thought of substituting more substantial pikes for the very thin (and with no spear point)pieces of wire provided by Grumpy. |

The Grumpies are great for anything colonial. I got two armies out of what I bought with very few 'overs'. With my English, Irish and European Spanish armies, however, my quest for variety has already led me into vastly over-buying Essex figures and I'm still waiting for the release of the Khurasan English and Spanish! I will be able to field three 'Battles' per side, but that rather defeats the object of playing a game that works brilliantly with far fewer figures. |
