I've found myself liking the era more and more (With Fire and Sword and Mount & Blade helped me a lot), I started to think about playing the era. Checking PSR, it was decided, Revell. Got a few (sadly too few) from a friend, which will be enough to start two skirmish forces.

But now the Revell minis being OOP, and only their Cavalry and artillery available from Mars, I'd like to get some help. I cannot find some unit types (such as Eastern-styled troops, and some more variety would be neat), and would like to know if someone else knows something I don't.

So far what I've found:
Revell boxes
The (not too beautiful, but could look better painted) Mars boxes
Zvezda Strelets could be easily converted to Polish infantry (some hack 'n slash on the bardiche)
A Call to Arms boxes for Western style infantry
Maybe the "once they'll be released we swear to God" Waterloo 1815 Cromwell's cavalry
Tumbling Dice minis (tho the lack of pics are really discouraging)

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the Tumbling Dice ECW in person, but there used to be some pictures of several figures in a yahoo files group years ago--they looked good. Not as fine detail as Revell's plastic, but better than decent. Those images might still be there if you look around.

Scroll to the bottom for a few pics of TD 20mm ECW

And here--this guy walks through with pictures of several 20mm alternatives.

I used to use the TD figures with Revell. A little stockier but fine.

Hinton Hunt had a decent range. I picked up a decent amount of them before the owner passed away.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for all the answers. Now I only need some Eastern minis. The Mars ones are still so-so, I have a box of Zvezda Winged Hussars, and will probably get a box of Orion Hussars too. I just found Irregular's 20mm range, but sadly no scale comparison of their Renaissance range with other manufacturers' ones. If someone could help me even further with that, I'd be grateful.

And Tumbling Dice got my vote – I need only 5-10 minis for a unit, and about 5-10 units a side. Hopefully I can still hunt down some Revell minis, but truth to be told, one box of artillery and a box of Swedish infantry will make me happy.

I've asked (although for different periods) about that Irregular range – and they are a good match for 20mm plastics.

Warrior also do a 20mm Ecw range link

zirrian, I could give you all my Revell minis, all unpainted. I have 90 cavalry, 200 infantry and about 8 cannons, no limbers though, I used them for something else.

@paul liddle: I'd be more, way more than grateful. I'm not sure how to send messages here (I couldn't find that on your profile), so I'd like to ask you to send me an e-mail (zirrian[at]gmail.com), or a private message here.

Toy Soldier Company has some Revel TYW imperials on clearance. $15 USD a box!

@davbenbak: It would be cool, but sadly I live on another continent…

I'll email you soon zirrian.

The Tumbling Dice figures mix well with the Revell chaps. My ECW armies, which are mostly plastic Revell figures, were supplemented with some metal pikemen from Tumbling Dice.

I think Waterloo 1815 is coming out with re-issues of some of the revel tyw range

zirrian29 Apr 2014 2:01 p.m. PST

I only found some re-released Revell sets of cavalry from Waterloo. I know their next set will probably be Cromwell's Roundheads, but haven't heard more.

And I got Mr. Liddle's package, who is one of the most excellent people I found online so far. Thank you again, good sire.
