I am about 90% done with my drone squad but I was wondering how people prefer to paint the fight stand? I have seen it a few ways but I am not sold on a direction yet. Love to hear suggestions.
Thanks, DZT |

nice squad. I try to use see-through rods, remembering to not use super glue to attach as it will cloud the rods >< |

The beasties have camo netting on their helmets! |

Looking good! I prefer flat black for flight rods. It's unobtrusive against most backgrounds, and I think the eye accepts that it is "not there" more readily. Clear rods actually stand out more than black, IMHO. Because of the way they distort light going through them, and the fact they are shiny, to me they appear almost luminous, and certainly are not invisible. |

Yeah, black rods for me, nice unit, are those GZGs drones? I have 3 packs in the mail to me at the moment. |

What of instead of using black painted flight stands or clear plastic rods how about wire? It is sturdy enough to hold such a model. If it bends it is easy to replace. And of course so small gauge in diameter makes it even more to see. Just a thought. Grimm |

Yes they are gzg drones. Would work for your Tau just fine. Think I will give black a try. Yep camp netting. I was trying to use some gauze topaint a mesh camouflage on top and it didn't work at all. But coming back later the gauze had dried just right so I cut it out and glued it on. Bob Ross happy mistakes |

Try painting one of the rods flat black. really makes them hard to see. oops I see others have already posted about the black rods. still a very good idea. Also the grass on the bases makes them stand out a lot. Unless you plan on gaming on a table covered with the same grass, I would not use it.

I think black stands out even more. I use a dark olive green, but with a desert/dirt basing, you might want to try a shade darker than the base brown color. |

Another alternative is to alter the rods into large bushes/small saplings using thin wire and reindeer lichen to create the impression that the drone is buzzing past or hovering tucked up against some foliage for concealment. Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net
