Wow buttons down the side of the pants! Even though I prefer the 1806 Prussian uniform these look great. Do you ever paint any early French, Prussians, or Russians? Michael |

Thanks for the comment Michael I haven't painted any early uniforms yet but will be within the next few weeks as a have around 150 early young guard to paint but I might paint some Bavarians first Regards Richard |

Super
I have some test 6mm Russians coming Monday from Scale Creep. I'm interested in seeing how my paint skills work with this smaller scale. After seeing these though, I'm sure I'll be throwing things around the office

I never ceased to be amazed by your work. I am currently working on Calpe and Perry Prussian artillery, foot and horse in 28mm and the buttons here are (again) incredible. I was going to berate you for the lack of buttons on the cuff slashes, as I am sure you did them on the Young Guard. (I struggle in 28mm mind you). Now, without being a bean counter
Horse artillery? Should not the turnbacks to the coats be black with red piping? Should not the collars be the same? Two weeks ago I would have not had a clue, mind you. The guns
might be better in Vallejo 70943, with a blue wash
. The painting skill I envy. Could well be that pre 1815 these are right. I know nowt about such things!!! |

Hi deadhead you are correct about the turnbucks and coller but with 6mm it's about compromise the black looks invisible against the dark blue without dark grey highlights wich would make these areas to fussy at this scale so I went with the red the cannons look a lot lighter in the flesh so to speak but that is a nice blue grey colour you have found , I found that if I over detail 6mm it doesant look right just looks messy so I actually have to cut detail I will be trying my hand at some ab figures in the summer these will have all the detail I can fit on even eagles on buttons!! Thanks for the comments guys Regards Richard |

Quick question for you deadhead are you doing your foot artillery with black or white straps? I am painting some at the moment and I have seen online pictures with both colours. Regards Richard |

" Interesting

Jeffryws3 my meaning to that sentance was more about shading and highlight especially in a compact area like collers and of course the fact that it's a 1mm wide area wich is very hard to work in!! Doable but very time consuming to make it look neat and easy on the eye Regards Richard |

Foot artillery with black straps for me. I need something to contrast with the musketeers filing past the stuck gun, with white belts. Did not do any fusileers. The only reference I have seen to white for foot comes from the Mt St Jean site. He says that he bases this on contemporary prints, but how reliable would they be? He admits white would be an exception for Foot Artillery
and I am doing horse with white of course. Black looks surprisingly good on both Perry and Calpe gunners
.with the thin red piping top and front of open collar. But that is 28mm of course. I can well imagine the challenges in 6mm
but what you achieve is incredible |

Great work! I can't see the 6mm well enough to paint them anymore! Unfortunately when I do see Alder's I can't get past the munchkin looks (IMO of course I prefer Baccus) |

Here's a quick picture of the Prussian foot I have been working I tried the coller pipeing actually looks ok but notice how the black straps are almost invisible against the blue even with grey highlights, anyway hope you like

I know I keep hogging everything you put out
but it is incredible. I am struggling through a diorama of "The Road to Plancenoit" motivated by last weekend but one's walk in Southern Belgium. Red piping on the collar and cuffs in 6mm scale
.not bad at all
.. I can see the black belts (the grey highlight I will copy tomorrow), change nothing. Highlights on the faces in 6mm
.respect! Slight hint. The buttons for foot. Yellow metal not silver. It will take you no time and it does look better. Brass buttons on the jacket. Two buttons on the cuff slashes is right if we accept bottom one always left undone. Must be amazing to work in this scale and create realistic masses of troops
.but your investment in time cannot be less than mine in 28mm with just under 40 in my entire scene! |

Boozhe moi
I just got my sample order (I'd never actually seen 6mm in person before). I have no idea how you managed to get buttons and mustaches on these guys
I'm not even sure how you did the trousers and coats
