I need some for my Darkest Lost Continent outfit, any ideas who does 'em? I want them to be notably bigger then 28mm men, preferable beating their chests

Pulp miniatures does some I think

If you need a crowd of them, you might bulk out the band with plastic toy gorillas. I have one; my Foundry 28 mm Vikings come about up to his eyes, and he is much sturdier than they are. Unfortunately, the only indication of source on his base is: "China." He may have come from a store selling things for parties, including favors, in which case, you can buy them individually, and they cost about 25 cents each.

Check Safari Ltd toys.

The major craft store chains sell them, so you can get them cheaper using a coupon. The silverback gorilla sells for $15. USD I picked them up dirt cheap on sale. These are good for Mighty Joe Young size gorillas. I've never seen toy gorillas beating their chests--it'd scare the kiddies. :-)

Below is a pic from my blog with the gorillas:

Might be a bit smaller than you want but the Taer from Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures #58/60 might work.

May not be exactly what you want, but Iron Wind has a "gorilla man" with weapons:

I think it's a bit bigger than 28mm, but mine is stashed away in a to-do pile.

The Safari small ones aren't beating their chests …

… but these guys only cost about a buck a piece if you can find 'em on sale!
