This coming week I find my work/life taking me to Little Rock, and on Friday I have about 8 hours to myself. I was wondering if there were any good stores for historical minis in Little Rock? I am currently looking for 1/72 20mm World War II, so perhaps even a good model shop would suffice. Thanks! Jim |

Not much around for historicals, mostly fantasy sci-fi, but there's an excellent hobby store with paints, models (bunch of 1/72 last time I was in there), toy soldier supplies in addition to its main products of railroad hobby supplies, about 10 minutes north of downtown Little Rock. Rail and Sprue Hobbies in Jacksonville AR. railandsprue.com Game Zone Alpha is a miniature, board and card gaming store just down the street from Rail & Sprue. GZA 620 W Main St, Jacksonville, AR 72076 (501) 985-4263 There's also a WWII / Cold War era submarine, the USS Razorback, in North Little Rock on the Arkansas River and Jacksonville has a nice little Military History museum just up the street from GZA. Enjoy your visit! Clay |

Unless I am very much mistaken, shops with historical mini beyond Flames of War are pretty thin on the ground and getting thinner all the time. Frankly I fully expect in 10 years outside of a few hold outs like Brookhurst, they'll all be gone in favor of mail order. The FLGS simply doesn't offer enough value to keep the doors open any more. |

Yeah, I suspected that to be the case, FOW being the exception. I am used to The Source, in Minneapolis, which has a decent historical selection, but also a massive amount of general geekdom, all across the board. I doubt it is the historicals that carry the store, I am always the only one in it. =) |

If you want 1/72nd plastic figures, Hobby Lobby carries some IMEX figures. At least here in Colorado Springs, they are discontinuing them, so prices are marked way down. They are packaged with two opposing armies, for WWII, this is Germans and Americans. Grelber |

Good luck finding FLGS in Little Rock, AR. If you're ever in St. Louis, I could direct you to Game Nite, Miniature Market, Checkered Flag Hobbies, Schaefer's Hobbies, or CRM Hobbies for 1/72nd and 1/76 figures. But Game Nite also carries 15mm FOW. There's also another local shop in Granite City, IL called Wargamers Cave that does mail order, too. I like doing business there and putting on games every couple of months. Blake |
