Howdy folks,

I'm looking for somewhere (or someone) that has 'bitz' for sale or trade.

Hoplite shields, helms, the kind of stuff you find left over on a sprue, etc.

28mm scale.

I am working on two projects, to give a better idea of what I need, –
Ancient Greek City – need items to stand against walls, outside barracks, houses, market stalls etc.
Skeletons – inspired by Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts), but I want to Greek/Hoplite them up a little.

thanks
Chris

Have you checked the wargames factory skeletons? They are already Jason and the argonauts looking and have separate Greek type weapon sprues. They are very multi part, which to me is a bonus for posing, but ymmv.

Agreed – skellies don''t get much more Harryhausen than the WG ones. Heresy miniatures also has some coming that look similar, but a bit beefier.

I use these guys:

hoardobits.com

They have a whole section just for Wargames factory bits.

Fair prices and great service. I've never had any problems in the last 4-5 years I've been ordering from them.

Thanks folks.

I thought I had hit the jackpot on those hoard'o'bits, but I am UK and its $9.00 USD+ on postage for a bunch of bits that must weigh almost nothing. Shame.

They're Roman, rather than Greek, but Zvezda make (or used to make) some 28mm Early Imperial Roman skeletons. I think that they were called something like the "Cursed Legion". You may be able to find them cheaply online.

Be careful with Hoard O Bits. They are not at all friendly in rectifying mistakes. I would not buy from them if there was an alternative. They routinely overcharge on shipping.

I've actually had no problems at all with Hoard O Bits in rectifying one mistake in about eight orders. They sent me the right set and told me to keep the wrong one.
