Hello,
Just bought a DBA II/14 Kappadokian army from Magister.
There's a figure in the General's element holding some sort of device. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be.

Tried searching the web, but the closest I've come is this.

Any help in identifying the is appreciated.
Thanks

The device is a standard showing the rays of the Sun. There are some representations here:

Your photo and the link refer to the Sassanid period, but as they were reviving the former glory of the early period, the shape and symbols follow similar patterns.

Your standard carried is most often seen diagonally quartered in alternating red and black wedges.

It looks like an earlier Persian infantry standard, two square 'plates' suspended from a pole. Check out Osprey Persians or Duncan Head for reference

You can see it better on the Magister Miletum site by looking at the Achaemenid Persian foot command, who are painted and facing the viewer. The figure is from the same armies cavalry command/generals pack but is obscured in the pictures. You can see he is wearing the early Persian 'leg chap' style armour

There is an interpretation in Duncan's Achaemenid book
