Good to see some War of 1812 skirmish gaming. I really like the way Native Americans act with the Sharp Practice rules.

I didn't really make any real adjustments. Due to the inexperience of both sides, I didn't introduce formations, but that was also because this was my 1st big game of SP, & didn't want to deal with the added rules. I changed the Grasp cards for the US to be called "Remember Brother Jonathan". Brother Jonathan was kind of like Uncle Sam of the Revolutionary War era. I also gave the US the Bonus card "A Mere Matter of Marching", a reference to President's Jeffereson's quote about his expectations for the war. It was just the same as the Forced March extra move bonus card. I realized later I should have had 1-2 more US specific bonus card since the Canadians used the normal British cards, & the Native Canadians had their 6 cards. |

I didn't try to match any kind of scale or organization. The number & type of my units was solely based on the units I had or could borrow. The unit make up was: US
1 US Rifles: skirmishing, rifles, good quality
4 Line/Militia units: close order, muskets, regular quality
1 Ad Hoc unit: close order, muskets, poor quality (didn't have enough figures of any 1 type to make a complete unit, used a bunch of left overs from other units) Canadians
1 Canadian Voltigeurs: skirmishing, rifles, good quality (I believe the Voltigeurs didn't actually have rifles, but wanted to give the Canadians 1 long range unit)
3 Canadian Fencibles: close order, muskets, regular quality
2 Native Canadians: skirmish, muskets, regular quality All units were 12 figure units, which is the default unit size for Sharp Practice. |
