The growing sound of rolling thunder
The wall cloud of torrential rain
The blinding flashes of static lightning
The unnerving silence just before the onslaught
The Storm Elves are here.
More about the parts used on the blog: gamechangersgames.wordpress.com Any idea on how to model "rain" or "storm" bases? |

They're a great looking crew, War Pike/Night Owl. It's going to be hard representing rain on their bases – it might look like they're unaccountably splashing about in puddles. Good luck with finding a solution and post it here if you do! |

Thanks TwinMirror, I should be content to just give them a "normal" base but I can't bring myself to do it
I just can't! As my wife humorously reminds me: "You sure like to keep things simple don't you?" Hehehe |

One abstract option is black bases with jagged blue-white lightning bolts. Not realistic, but it gets the idea across. |

GW used to have a spray that roughed up surfaces with little bubbles. It might work. Or you could get a thick, fast drying liquid like gesso and shake the heck out of it to generate lots of bubbles and hope they dry in shape. Then paint it dark grey and gloss coat the heck out of it. |

Falling rain is almost impossible to show, but puddles and mud are relatively easy to model on the bases. Cheers! |

Hello to all, So late last night it "struck" me that all of your ideas are good and it "sparked" the following fluff (sorry, coffee still brewing:) The Storm Elves need to be on wet terrain as it is a better conductor of electricity (this is why they travel under the cover of storms) in order to harness the lightning. Instead of lightning spreading out from their feet it is actually gathering at that point to keep them "charged".
I think the lightning could be a little more exaggerated so I'll continue to mess around with this idea. I may run the lightning up their feet to the knee as well. Thanks for the creative input all. |
