Calling for some support on my new blog: gamingkorea.blogspot.com If you have an interest in Korea, this might be the time to voice that interest (and I explain how in the blog post). |

Good luck with your project. A very interesting war, with many -might-have-been- scenarios. |

I'm on board. Pithead already knows I am in for the Chinese once the heavy weapons are done. Korea has a lot of myths surrounding it. The hordes of Chinese are one of them. No one could admit US troops were beaten by a bunch of illiterate peasants without tanks, artillery or bombers, so they created the propaganda line. The Chinese were incredibly smart tactically and learned quickly from their mistakes. At times, they were forced to resort to human waves, such as at Chipyong Ni, but only when all other options failed or they had a command breakdown, something not uncommon for a force without radios. During one of my tours to the ROK back in the 80s, I had a chance to talk with a former PLA division commander from the war and many former NK troops. It was very enlightening. Get a copy of this book: link Another myth is that all the terrain is mountainous. Not true. Yes, the central spine and east coast are pretty rugged, but the western and southern parts are much more open and rolling hills. Many battalion and larger battles can be fought without the need of mountains on the table. Check the DMZ maps and see most of the positions were on hills only 100-200 feet above the surrounding terrain. The area below Seoul where the Chinese took such a beating is more open terrain than southern Germany. koreanwar.org/html/maps.html |

Formidable Enemies is an excellent book. Try to get a copy of the Battle of MaryAnn San. |

CS – I am in the process of buying a few packs of the Pithead Chinese, just to see what they look like, and to support Pithead's efforts. Seemingly we will see Chinese support along with US and British in cold weather gear in the future. Beyond that is really up to how much interest (i.e. – sales) Pithead sees from this range. Up to us gamers to make this happen! I am ordering that book today. I believe I have seen you reference it before. Thanks for the reminder! |

Picked up four packs of Chinese, an M24 Chaffee, and a T34/85 from Pithead that were received the other day. The vehicles are nice, the infantry not bad. I say not bad because they are tiny and I am not sure if I can muster the patience to paint such little men! ;) I also received Formidable Enemies in the post as well. Started reading a bit of it last night. |
