Plenty to see for the ancients enthusiast, I thought, and I came away from Salute fatigued yet energised …

More of all this on Ancients on the Move/Salute 2014

Thanks to all of you who stopped by the SoA stand for a chat (it is always a pleasure to meet fellow enthusiasts)

Very nice photo report – thanks! I particularly liked the pics of the C-day game, but then I'm partial – I had and built that model galley as a kid. wink

Hey, Doug … me too (except mine is still at the back of my desk – needed to work out how to base it before adding the oars … which meant I actually had to figure out what I wanted it for wink)

It'll get finished soon ..

Yes, thank for the pictures of these games. I sent your post to our group as we play a fair amount of ancients.

Hi Phil, thanks for posting – ancients and medievals do seem to have been well represented.

Thanks for the positive responses, everyone … thumbs up!

wrgmr1, thanks, reaching out to fellow ancients enthusiasts is one of the points of the blog so all help is appreciated ..

Yes, Caliban … I didn't think that really came across in many of the other Salute reports …

There were some good big games (ours, Rob's, Simon's etc.) _and, as well as Crawley's award winning Chariot Race, Peter Pig were running pick up games of Longships and the Lance & Longbow Society were hosting the new jousting game Crossed Lances – neither of which could I get any good shots of (though I have featured them before in previous reports)..

Anyway, you get the picture. Kudos to all the above for helping promote the ancient and medieval periods …

No mention of Jugula? (Gladiator combat from Studio Tomahawk)
That looks a very interesting game – I've not seen deck building used as a mechanism in a miniatures game before.

Interesting … There was a big Jugula banner on the Gripping Beast stand but I didn't see any game being played …

It was being played just beside the GB stand.
