Our store's back up and offering a new model, the Cormorant Medium Lander.

picture

This craft is used to insert several squads of infantry directly into the battle zone -- even directly into combat -- due to its heavy armour and powerful defensive armament.

picture

Powered by direct thrust (including a suite of VTOL thrusters) the Cormorant can move troops from the fleet in orbit to the planetary surface, and can also retrieve them for return to the fleet.

picture

An unarmed version, the Heron yacht, is also used as a intrafleet transport by the navy and is widely used in non-military government service, as well as by private owners. Parts are included to make the Heron as well as the Cormorant.

picture

The Cormorant/Heron has a transport pod attached to its underside, and this is a nice little model all its own, as seen here. Although the pod is not meant to be left on the surface by the lander, it can be jettisoned if the lander is damaged or destroyed, and you should be able to easily use it separately if you wish.

picture

I think Charles Oines has done a great job on this design and dwartist has done his usual brilliant paintup (his model has some panel lines painted on the front but the model is provided as shown in these images).

Available now at the link below, cheers for looking:

The Heron/Transport Pod would make a good exploration vessel.

Form a main base on an unexplored planet and have a Heron fly a Pod out to a distant location. It would drop the pod, with attendant scientists and a security detail, and then fly back to the main base. The Heron would then be used for recon and supply runs to other bases.

For really distant bases the Heron would stay so they could bug out in a hurry and not have to wait hours for help.

- seems like 2 parts of a ship, short in the body.
perhaps if I order 2 or 3 I can convert to something like these. Like the over all design – very Battle Star

khurasanminiatures15 Apr 2014 4:53 p.m. PST

The whole ship is there, I assure you. grin

Thanks for your support though.

Privateer4hire15 Apr 2014 5:15 p.m. PST

Been waiting on this. Thanks.

For an idea of size, here's the bare resin Cormorant next to some of the Federal Army infantry who are so often its passengers:

Great model. This looks like the perfect lander for Exoplanet exploration games.

War Monkey15 Apr 2014 7:19 p.m. PST

Very nice, just one question, would be at some time selling the pods separately?

platypus01au15 Apr 2014 7:55 p.m. PST

Special pleading…

Can I please, please, please have that in 6mm????

Please?

This was actually originally designed to be 6mm, matter of fact.

looking good, are there other inserts in the works???

Micman Supporting Member of TMP16 Apr 2014 8:11 a.m. PST

Due to sequestering, the budget only allows for the purchase of one a year. This years had been ordered!

khurasanminiatures16 Apr 2014 4:17 p.m. PST

khurasanminiatures16 Apr 2014 4:19 p.m. PST

Thanks for posting that picture with the federal infantry, dwartist -- it gives a great sense of the size of the lander.

sleb2216 Apr 2014 6:16 p.m. PST

That is a great model. Now at the top of the want list!

Pretty awesome piece of kit. Really always pushing the envelope, your large spaceships have always been some of my favorite 15mm models. I love the DLPS Light Spaceship that I have, and I'm sure this kit is just as nice.

moonfleetminis17 Apr 2014 8:10 a.m. PST

Yh very nice piece of kit , if only you had released before i put my order in…..
Oh well, it'll have to get put on the next order :)

Etranger17 Apr 2014 5:59 p.m. PST

Jon, is that a join abaft the landing legs? IE is the body 2 pieces or a single casting?

khurasanminiatures17 Apr 2014 9:15 p.m. PST

Yes, it's a join.

Etranger18 Apr 2014 3:05 a.m. PST

Should be straight forward enough to insert a longer midsection then…. evil grin

Now how long to payday…..
