I quite like those books. Sort of 'Scarrow for grown ups'

..not that I don't enjoy the Scarrow books as well. Also the Sidebottom series is fairly good.

Just finished Wolfs Gold and now reading Eagles Vengeance. Should really use them for general scenarios.
I do enjoy Riches books along with Scarrow and Side Bottom. There is also Ben Kane )more Roman) and Sam Barone (Mesopotamian wars. Sumer and Akkad)
