I've seen some of these in the pics from Salute 2014 last weekend. Nice, but when it comes to terrain it is what they do after all. Little men or terrain, terrain or little men ? Well it may be tears for my credit card. The larger warehouse is in the market average range when you look at the other companies for the level of detail. |

In my opinion the best models on the market for the Victoria era and an expanding range with much more in the pipleine. They are plastic, not resin or MDF. As to expensive? you pay for what you get, a quality product. |

Oshiro are not the cheapest terrain providers around but their quality is outstanding and they are not ludicrously expensive compared to other terrain manufactures. They are certianly worth paying a little extra for. |

When you consider the tooling costs for plastic injection if that is what these are then they are not particularly expensive. From what you can see the design and tooling are excellent. Also people forget what is expensive to one person may not be expensive to another, i for one can not afford everything i would like but it does not mean that those items are necessarily expensive just out of my price range. In these cases before declaring a companies products expensive think about your hourly rate of pay and consider what the company's costs may be, what you pay is not what goes in the pocket of the owner there do tend to be overheads involved, The above goes for discounts as well i would not be too happy if my boss asked me to work Friday for nothing as he had decided to discount my wages. |

I don't care about the manufacturing process – I'm an end user. If I ever get in the industry, then I may – otherwise I vote with my money by buying from whom I like based on their quality, their cost, the shipping rates, the support after sale. One aspect may outweigh the others or not – but certainly the intricacies of how a product is made matter not a single iota to me. |

I saw those buildings on the 'train escape' game at salute and they are fantastic. The guys running the game (fezzes?!) pointed me at the manufacturer, James at Oshiro and I spoke to him for quite a bit. They're made of laser cut acrylic (not injection plastic). It's more stable than MDF and paints better – I'm going to take James's word on that as he's a professional model maker full time. @curufea, I think you're simplifying too much; these buildings are underpriced in my mind, given the research/design/manufacture etc. Also, judging buy the number James was selling while I was talking to him lots of other people think the price is right. |

I stand corrected super plastic ;) Another range to add to the tear soaked list of items to slave for at work ;) They are very fine and worth the extra pain compared to my normal cork Martian built buildings. I should of asked is the hotel (big white building in the right hand corner of most pics from salute)from Salute come out as part of the range? |
malamute | 19 Apr 2014 5:33 a.m. PST |
I believe the white building will be available as a kit at some point in the future. |

I got the small warehouse kit several years ago when he was first tooling up the line. The precision of the fit is amazing as is the level of detail -- interior roof trusses, separate window frames, etc. Very pleased that I got one. |

While not cheap I do think they are excellent value for money. The detail and quality are clearly top notch. Even with basic painting, as mine are, they still look good. Mine are here ~ link |
