Most of the pics I see of the Knights of Jerusalem have them wearing a pale blue tunic. Would the Sergeants wear the pale blue tunic as well or would they wear mostly white with the pale blue accents? |

I am not certain what exactly you mean by "Knights of Jerusalem"; but I think you may be being misled by something imaginary, made up for the Kingdom of Heaven film. Templars wear white; Hospitallers (Knights of the Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem) wear black or, later, red. Feudal knights of the Kingdom of Jerusalem wear whatever they choose. |

Well Battleflag has a set of decals out for their miniatures one of which is the Knights of Jerusalem Sgts which are white and powder blue. Being new to gaming the crusades I was going by this and some images I "googled" and yes I was also going by the Kingdom of Heaven movie. So were there no "Knights of Jerusalem"?

The flag of the kingdom is yellow on white so if you want livery you could start there. There is though no evidence for it. As has been said the knights would wear what they liked. I used knight figures with Arab head gear to distinguish the feudal knights of the kingdom and principalities from visting Crusaders. |

Well, I can't think of anything historical that the term woud apply to, apart from what I've mentioned. Certainly not in light blue. The white shield with the gold crosses, that's the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, which – strictly – should only be borne by the king. |

So are the decals from Battleflag fictional? |

Perhaps Hollywood has a better historical research team than the historians of academia. Not saw some ancient Egyptian camel riding spearmen in a great old favorite 'Land of the Pharaohs" the other night. Total larf. Still I'd do a sub unit of powder blue all wargame historical armies should have a bit of Hollywood whimsy in them I think. Much fun and gaming gents. Cheers |

When film makers want to show a battle they (nearly always) give a coulour to one side and another coulour to the other side; it is what they learn to do in cinema schools; if they didn't most of the spectators would be confused to understand who is who in the film. Most of the time these choices are not serious historically. There are lots of ridiculous examples. One of the most ridiculous is Luc Besson's "Jeanne d'Arc" where French medieval heraldry and banners are in shades of light blue and dark blue, and all English banners are in nice shades of red! :)
