Just visited Lidl's in Cromer, Norfolk UK. And they have artificial grass mats with heavy rubber non-slip backing. Made for conservatories (I think).
They are £5.99 GBP and 100x200cm. They look good and the grass is a medium green with, what looks like, black flecks
I wonder is the price good for that size, if so I might get 2.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I visited my local Lidl today and bought one. There is no significant nap, so figures or bases will stand on it easily. I think it will be ideal for a Portable Wargame surface, and I can glue off-cuts onto MDF or similar for old school stepped hills.

Glad it was ok. I take it the price was good as well.

I saw these, but the backing was too thick for on table use, as a terrain feature, and the mat was too small to use as a playing surface.
