Another attempt at this, as last night's didn't show on the home page Over the last few weeks I have been making good progress with my late War Germans for GWSH. These are all 10mm Pendraken figures. 2 regiments of infantry done, along with the artillery, and most of the cavalry. There is another regiment of infantry to go, and I'm sure a few other bits and pieces (and as can be seen from these photos the labels on the bases need redoing).
1st Infantry Regiment
2nd Infantry Regiment
Stosstruppen
Flammenwerfer
Pioneers
Cavalry squadron – really just decorative at this stage of the war!
Divisional Artillery 77mm at the front, 105s (in grey), then at the back left 150mm (in spotty cammo) and back right 21cm Morsers
1st regiment of 77mm guns – in an mid war scheme with blue
2nd regiment of 77mm guns – in more typical three colour cammo

Thanks. The bases are done using a dark brown wood filler, which is a bit of a gaff to spread around, but once that's done the rest is easy. Push the figures in, use a cocktail stick to push a bit of filler back over the bases. Make any shell holes etc. I've added a couple of different browns in vague blobs. Final step is some water effects for water filled shell holes. |

What rules are you using? Add a little bit of water to the wood filler to make it easier to work with. Most brands are just fine sawdust, PVA and dye. I apply the filler out of the container with a small trimmed popsicle stick, then blend the filler over the figure base using an old brush loaded with water to push some thinned filler over the base. When the base is dry, hit it with a coat of sealant, then a light wash of a darker brown. |

Thanks, I'll try adding a bit more water to the filler, to help push it round. I'm planning on using Great War Spearhead, we've had one early war battle so far that went well. |
