Just an update to let people know that the PC died, and I'm not sure when I will be able to replace it, so response times to inquiries/orders will be slower than normal, and hit or miss.

That's why I haven't been able to send out/post any pics of the new items being worked on.

Typing this at the library, on a tiny keyboard, so apologies for any typos I miss (can't believe how small this keyboard is).

I'll try to check in at least once a week, or so, as time and computer access permit.

bummer!

I'm not sure if you can get away with a laptop instead of a desktop PC, but I'm currently using a 4 year old Toshiba "student special" that cost me something like $400 USD new. I don't do any really processor-intensive work on it, like 3d rendering, though. It's a word processor with internet capabilities.

I just picked up a laptop for a shipping computer for $285 USD refurbished from walmart. It's a gateway and had decent stats.

I feel your pain as I'm now 8 or 9 weeks into laser trouble. At least I can cut now almost full time but I'm still losing power if I run it for longer then 30 mins or so.

What's the matter with the pc Mako11? I fix them for a living and it takes a lot to TRULY kill one…

Perhaps it's something simple

Thanks for the tips.

I really appreciate them.

Not sure on the issue, but suspect it may be running up against total memory capacity, since it's pretty old, and running XP still. Got a blue screen, and when trying to reboot in safe mode, it won't do it, saying something about "overload…". It was losing random files here and there, before the crash, so could be a hard-drive failure too, I guess.

I'm going to have someone look at it, when he has the time, but it's probably time to get a new one, due to its age.

Not sure I need one for 3D rendering, though that would be nice. While I like the convenience of a laptop, I do a lot better typing on a regular keyboard, at a desk, so may go with a desktop, if I can find one for a reasonable price, and with a decent operating system.

I keep hearing about the horrors of Windows 8, so am not looking forward to that, either.
