Hey, Bill…

I was trying to post a new topic on the Terrain and Scenics board and keep getting the following error…

/mivacommon/boards/newtopic.mv: Line 186: MvLOCKFILE: Runtime Error: Error creating lockfile 'boards/topics.dbf.lck': Timed out waiting for lock

Any guidance?

So after the site let me post this comment to this board, I went back and was able to successfully submit my topic to the Terrain/Scenics board.

I'm leaving this up, Bill, just in case it tips to a larger issue worth investigating.

I also just had this problem trying to post.
I was on Google Chrome, I switched to Internet explorer, tried again, and it worked like a dream!

It means the server is temporarily overloaded.

Thanks, Bill! Good learning for me.

I also received this error message when I was posting a reply, but my post appeared to be successful in spite of it (this isn't meant as a complaint, but as further data for any troubleshooting efforts you might undertake; I can't help it-I was a software tester in a past life!)

That error has happened for years, it comes and goes.

There was definitely something extra going on at the time of the first post on here. I managed to post one thread, but the second one repeatedly locked, and my attempt to post about the error failed too.

V4 really needs to arrive soon, as this version felt unusable last night (UK time)

Ah yes and I've just had the dreaded lockfile:runtime error but with a twist.

I waited, then looked at the message forum and my post was there BUT it didn't appear on the front page.

So should I repost it so it will be noticed or just wait for those who check the boards?

This is the second time I've seen this. The runtime error will post but won't run on the front page. If it's a reply it makes no matter as the post has it's place already but as the first post it does.
