For your entertainment, here is the full replay of our first Swamp Fox Campaign game scenario we played a while back. Set in July 1780, it pits a mostly Loyalist force against Patriots in the partisan war of the South Carolina back country.

The game is available as a free download from The Perfect Captain.

Not my period but a fun read, campaigns really are the way to go.

Oh, that's sooooo cool. I like it.

I'm going to have to take a look at this.

I've been wanting to use the Swamp Fox Campaign system for a couple of years now, but don't yet have the terrain elements to do it justice. I've thought about graphically altering the battlefield cards to better match my terrain kit, but that's something requiring additional effort, but which I think would be worth it, since The Perfect Captain has put such effort into creating this neat campaign system here already.

Having a mini-campaign system to generate scenario encounters is what so many of the us period gamers want, it's just the initial prep work needed to get everything up and running that keeps us instead playing just one-off scenarios.

TPC, thanks for posting your Swamp Fox Campaign report here! The system is really very novel, and desirable, and essentially free in lieu of a charitable support contribution just for maintaining the TPC website for all the excellent "products" available there.

Oh, how much I do want to use this campaign system, it's the terrain elements and/or need to modify the battlefield cards that's had this on the "back-burner" for me.

FlyXwire, don't bother modifying the cards, because you don't need to follow them so exactly, as long as your opponent consents. If you don't have a manor house, put a few sticks of matchwood in its place- voila! Tory/Patriot retribution.

For tabletop battles you can skip the cards entirely if you like. They are only really necessary for the campaign (provender numbers, fords, etc).

The game really is quite a gas to play. We are also available through our yahoo group to answer any questions you may have while playing.

Campaign games are indeed the way to go.
