Hi Guys, I'm interested in running a fun, simple campaign set in an imaginary Medieval kingdom based (very loosely!) in the late 14th century. A game that seems to be popular for relatively low-level campaigns is Dux Britanniarum. Now I realise that it is made for a much earlier Arthurian period, and I've also seen earlier discussions on TMP that say it won't work for later campaigns, including the opinion of the designer himself. Noting this I put things on a backburner as I thought about other options. The other day, however, I visited the Lead Adventure Forum and saw several posters mention they thought DB would work just fine. Since I will be gaming in an entirely fictional land I have no problem in changing location names/maps etc. I would expect to tweak troop types to better model the later period; but having done that, could it work? Well? Those posts got me thinking. I'd be very curious to hear if any of you have tried this. Many thanks for any advice! Daryl |

Arrggh, sorry for misspelling the game name! Thanks for the link, Agrippa. I missed that one! |

I set my Dux Brit games in Middle Earth, with the orcs playing the role of the Saxons and humans and dwarves playing the British. I am not sure it will work very well for late medieval games as missile troops are rare in Dux Brit. |

Point taken, Pedrobear. Thank you for the input! |

I'm doing a medieval conversion for Donnybrook instead. The rules seem less problematic for me – others would disagree, but aren't we lucky that we are spoilt for choice :-) |
