Ok, I am having painters block. I need to paint a whole bunch of Titan marines but I am at a loss as to what to use. I like the desert scheme on the Rebel Minis web site but I cannot place those paint colors. I was also think of going for a Death Korps of Krieg look, but dark colors (black, grey) tend to look horrible on 15mm from a distance. Any suggestions? |

Spray them a base color. Hit them with wash. Pick out some bits you want to stand out like weapons. OR Spray them a base color. Dry brush them. Pick out some bits want to stand out like weapons. This worked well for the standard Rebel Minis marines I bought (I think they're Terran Federation or some such?). |

I don't know what the equivalent colors are in GW world today but if you want to go death corp try priming them black, painting them with Charadon Granite, then highlight them with a little bit of baneblade brown mixed with Charadon Granite and pick out the extremes with Delta Ceramcoat's trail tan. Then do the other details. |

Remember, it's the 'mumble mumble' century and we have adaptive camouflage
so just paint it like the table ;-) Seriously, I have just gone wild with colour on the basis that adaptive camouflage etc would make colour irrelevant. You could select some 'national' colours and paint them in that. Try looking at a colour wheel and get some ideas for balancing or complementary colours. Blue & Yellow, Turquoise and White, etc. In 15mm camouflage can work but you need to really dial up the contrast. I painted up some really nice schemes and then realised they just looked like a muddy brown at normal viewing distance. |
