I wonder if anyone can help me with the colour of Austrian Jaeger jackets in 1859?

As far as I can see the jacket should be grey and is shown as such in at least one illustration of the war.

However Ottenfeld has a plate showing infantry and Jaeger both in white tunics and this has been copied eg. in the Osprey on the Austrian Army.

I know various volunteer units muddy the water but it is the regular Jaeger that I am after.

Can anyone save me a long search and explain the Ottenfeld plate?

Both soldiers in this plate are in the linen "Kittel" (I think "smock" is the English word for it), normally reserved for fatigue duties, but especially at this time in Italy worn for all duties.

Wow, 12 minutes for an answer! The paint isn't dry on the trousers yet.

Thank you corporal, now you have pointed it out I can see that it is a fatigue jacket but I looked without seeing all morning.

Thanks
