Awesome! I will try my best to get to this. Anyone in Hamilton want to look at car pooling? |

If there is a War of 1812 or Napoleonic game on, I will be there. Very nice web site! Bookmarked. |

As someone from the states, I thought one only watched demonstration games, but was allowed to play in participation games. There are some things of historic interest I would like to see in the Toronto and Hamilton area so, if I made the drive, would I actually be allowed to play games or would I be expected to watch games? |
boy wundyr x | 10 Apr 2014 2:26 p.m. PST |
I'm planning on coming in for the day, looking forward to it! @79thPA – I'm interpreting it that there will be games run to demonstrate rules (maybe with attendees) and participation games. The website has this under their call for GMs: "We are currently looking for GMs to run games at Hold the Line. If you have a historical, sci-fi, or fantasy, or other miniatures based participation or demo game you'd like to host, please let us know." |
VonPlutz | 10 Apr 2014 7:02 p.m. PST |
@79thPA We are still gathering GMs but the organizers are very much of the opinion that the best way to demo a set of rules is to have players participate. I would be very surprised if none of the GMs wanted participation (as I know some we have reached out to tend to run great games). Make sure to check the website over time for the latest details. |

The RCL hall is right at the Long Branch GO Station for out of towners. BTW, we used it for a wargaming-themed stag night for a wargaming buddy and the hall was excellent including the catering. link |

This sounds promising, but tell me my friend, do you expect many Dans to attend? |

A Facebook link, please? My FB foo has failed. I won't make it this year but I am hoping to be in Toronto around that time in 2015, so I am really hoping your con is successful and repeated as an annual event. |

I know there's nothing in the schedule so far, but seeing as the event is sponsored by Too Fat Lardies, are there any plans for Lardie events? Cheers. |

Awesome! I've always wanted to give Coastal Patrol a try, just never found anyone with the right models who was willing to give it a try. |

Sad to say, I'll be attending the Canadian Forces version of the Command and General Staff College and that's the first weekend on the training schedule. Well, maybe I can see about running an "op" and escaping from Fort Frontenac/Kingston for an evening

@AmongLions – Brian runs fun Coastal Patrol games, particularly with the blinds in play. I spent the first half of the game I played worried about what turned out to be a co-belligerent, and the second half trying to stop MTBs from getting a clear run at the freighter I was escorting. They finally got two torps off on the last turn – beautiful broadside shots – and both went under the freighter! Chris |

Any additional information the Painting/modelling seminars? I just want to know what to bring. Cheers. |
AlexMcC | 02 Jul 2014 1:07 p.m. PST |
We're not running specific seminars, The Bent Bristle will be set up with some products for sale, as well as both contributing painters, and they will ready to help with any questions you may have, or stumbling blocks you might want to climb over
very informal kind of set up. You don't need to bring anything unless you have a specific model you're struggling with. There will be demo models to test/demo techniques on. -The Bent Bristle |

For public transit users, the Shorncliffe 123 buses from Kipling Station (it's about in the middle of the bus platform upstairs from the trains) go to the Long Branch GO station and the nearby RCL Hall. link Remember, it's as easy as 1-2-3. |
rmcaras | 10 Jul 2014 4:50 p.m. PST |
mildly curious, but one of your vendors is getting a lot of press on TMP for offering pirating figures from a range of manufacturers, AND if that wasn't bad enough, they are quite sub-standard quality-wise, not to mention priced several times over the original models. That strikes me that the person really doesn't understand the wargaming paradigm. But curious what the convention's sponsors response and action, if any, will be. Are the convention organizers even aware of this "late-breaking" development? |
AlexMcC | 11 Jul 2014 7:25 a.m. PST |
Good morning, As this just came to light for us last night, we've scrambled to deal with it. Battlescar has been asked not to attend as a vendor, as there are obvious IP issues here. Please continue this discussion in the appropriate thread, it has nothing to do with our event. Thanks, and see everyone tomorrow!! |
bhall389 | 11 Jul 2014 10:38 a.m. PST |
rmcaras raises a good point, but is really the convention organizers responsibility to police vendors? I'm not so sure. Is pirating a deplorable practice? No doubt in my mind, but organizing and running a convention is enough work as it is without having to inspect a vendor's wares to find pirated figures, or other questionable business practices for that matter. What about flea markets or bring and buys at conventions? Where do we draw the line? Once it's in the open as it is in this case, it does need to be addressed, somehow. Banning a vendor who is accused, but not yet found guilty might be a little harsh. See you tomorrow. Regards, Brian |

We would like to thank everyone very much for coming out! From the initial buzz, it seems like people had a great time, gaming, socializing and shopping. We specifically want to thank all our GMs for running their games – everything looked fantastic! The raffle was incredibly successful, with us raising $1,000 USD for Wounded Warriors, so thank you to all that bought tickets, and to all of our generous sponsors! Hope to see everyone back again next year, so stay tuned for Hold the Line 2015 announcements! |

Bowman | 16 Jul 2014 5:49 a.m. PST |
I would like to attend and run a game also. But I do go to Historicon. Having Hold the Line the weekend before Historicon is just too tight a schedule for me. |

Hi Bowman, Thanks for your interest – we haven't fully confirmed the date for next year, but we're considering moving it into late June…hang fire for more details! |
