They're worth a read if you like the WWIII genre, although they're contemporary unlike Harvey Black's new series which is set in the traditional '80s. I've read all three so far and am looking forward to the next one. They focus more on the military events as the series goes on. The first book seemed a bit far fetched at first reading but the recent events in the Ukraine have made it seem a bit less further from reality. If you liked "Red Storm Rising" or Larry Bond's early technothrillers you should like these. |

Its ok but it the mix of real and made up Army units annoys me and the mix of real/made up names of naval ships. If you can go to the trouble of using the names of real British Army Regiments like the Coldstream Guards then why not use the correct Brigades aswell, it may seem small but it really bugs me. |

I'm reading the second book now. The first was kind of slow at first, but it picked up. My biggest complaint are there really are no paragraphs or spaces to separate some of the action scenes. One minute I'm reading about a battle somewhere and then the next the scene shifts to someone in England and maps would also have greatly helped this book along with including more modern versions of equipment. This story takes place some years after 9/11 but so far the F-22 Raptors and M1A2 tanks haven't shown up yet. The timeline is totally unbelievable. A week after the war began the US is able to send multiple divisions to different areas of the world. Wrong. It will take a few months before heavy divisions can start being shipped anywhere, especially if the US is caught with its pants down at the last minute. |
