Referencing John the OFM's thread "The OFM's suggestions for starting in the AWI"

TMP link

which for me is one of the most useful threads on TMP – I am currently building my initial forces.

As suggested I am starting with some American militia and four regiments of Continental infantry.

For the Continentals, paint up a regiment with blue coat and red facings, blue with white, brown with red and brown with white.

Can anyone tell me the names or regiments that would be correctly represented by those uniforms.

All help appreciated !

They could all be Pennsylvania regiments with those colours.

Thank Oggie. Any chance of specific names for each colour combo?

That "OFM" Wallah, is useful sometimes ;-) Just read that thread of his, very useful must say. Ta John, saved and filed. Cheers. Oh! The plan? Think 10mm maybe 15mm and Gilford as the base and yes I'll have to do both sides ;( but then I'll have both sides :) Cheers again all as for rules something by the Lardys or 'Loose File and. American Scramble'

Painting your miniatures those colors could represent different units in the AWI. Maryland, Pennsylvania Continental Regiments, New Hampshire or even Connecticut Regiments.

Teppsta, get the Mollo book on AWI uniforms and you'll be good to answer your question – and be able to paint oodles of other units to some quasi-reasonable degree of accuracy.

And, blast it, now that Polly Oliver is returning to the fold, I've gone and redesigned and expanded the planned (and mostly bought if not painted) collection to 96 and 80 foot units (the left side of the ponders versus the right side of the ponders). Ponder that!

The fact is that could be the same regiment over different periods, especially the blue faced red and brown faced red combo.

There were several different coat colors in some regiments. You can't pin a coat color on any particular regt or state.
