I'm looking for advice/recommendations on what is the nicest individual miniature or unit to paint for the upcoming Historicon painting competition hosted by Architects of War. By nicest, I'm looking for detail and pose. I haven't painted any Perry minis in a long time. Not that they are not nice but they haven't fit my current projects. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Larry

My absolute favorite to paint were the plastic ACW zouaves.

You probably can't go wrong with the Mahdi, or maybe some personality on a rearing horse though.

What about the King in the Car Park Richard III? Or some of the French Napoleonic general staff…

Nicest set I can recommend ,I have not started on yet .
The Takeda daimyo samurai command .
do not have the painting confidence to start on it but know it will be okay once I get going.
If you submit some samurai they always go down well ,even up against the normal Napoleonic entries.

I had a lot of fun painting up set AW100 (Anglo-Allied Officers Interrogating a Captive Continental Officer) from their American War for Independence line.

It is a stand-alone vignette that would blend in well with many of the terrain items produced by Architects of War.

Here are a few photos of my painted vignette.

And here is a link to the photo of the set on the Perry Miniatures website:

Samurai seem like an obvious choice, as do their late medievals too.

I had fun with the AWI Volunteers of Ireland.
