I have one of the WizKidz Aurora class dropships that will be used in our Crucible games (generally as scenery), but I really don't like the look of the original turrets on the thing. Has anyone any suggestions for better looking replacements?

The Aurora Dropship appears in the picture of the Body Rollers mercenary company delivering more tanks to the Mazzengaville front on the Chalanek Station Blog @ chalanekstation.blogspot.com/.

I was planning on making them into open air gun tubs for door gunner type figures. but never got around to it before I sold my dropship.

Check out the old plastic MechWarrior models for turrets. There were a lot of designs out there.

Maybe the turrets from these?

The Mechwarrior is an idea to pursue, but I suspect, since this is already a Mechwarrior ship, that any turrets I find that way will likely be too small. Thanks, Cory.

Similarly, the CM turrets are definitely too small, but thanks for the idea anyway, Pat.

Maybe some suggestions in 25mm turrets may be appropriate?

What's the diameter of the turret ring? I'm guessing somewhere around 25mm to 30mm?

If you can give a confrmation on that I could think about measuring some stuff up: I'm unfamiliar with the WizKidz Aurora lander itself.

Nice pics and models BTW :)

John, thanks for the prop on the pic. I'm having a ball with Pat's Little Wars game and the Mazzengaville scenario.

As far as the turret is concerned, its diameter is 1 and 9/16 inches or 4 centimeters.

Old Crow sell separate turrets, but you need to email him direct about making an order.

Here's a link using the wayback machine to an old version of his site with pics.

Wow: 40mm! Yep, you might want to consider 28mm for that sort of size. Old Crow would certainly be an option.

Have a look at stuff on the Slammers site in 28mm (mostly the pages in Gallery 1) and see if anything tweaks your fancy.
