I am new to the US and live in Stamford, CT.
What shows are in the area over the year? Is there a website which lists them all?

There is HUZZAH on May 16-18 in Portland, Maine: huzzahcon.com/.

I don't know what may still be available as far as hotel rooms, but it is a great con. Give it a try if you have the time. I'll be there probably on Saturday at least.

Depends on the type of show you want.

You just missed HAVOC which is put on by the Battle Group Boston:

There is ConnectiCon in Hartford in July. This is a "multi-genre" convention which is strong on Anime and roleplaying. They do have some tabletop gaming (mostly Warhammer) and console gaming. They have a HUGE dealer's room:

There is Templecon in January in Providence, RI:

templecon.org/14

There is TotalCon in February in Mansfield, MA.:

Not complete…. but a good start for "local"

NJCON Fire in the East08 Apr 2014 2:36 p.m. PST

We have quite a large number of attendees from CT/MA/NY that frequent NJCON6-Fire in the East

The show is being held on June 6th & 7th (70th Anniversary of D-Day) at the New Jersey Convention and Expo Center.

Looks like it's 73 miles from you.

Hotels info is available at the attached link. njcon.org

Thanks a lot!
Will try to make it to some of the shows.

New Englanders have always been willing to drive.
Fall In and Cold Wars are in Lancaster Pennsylvania, and are large shows.
The largest is Historicon, and I am sad to say that it is in Virginia this year.

I will be at Historicon on Friday. We will make it a family trip: my girls go shopping and I … :-)
And the weekend is for one or two of the battlefields in the area.
Looking forward to it!

Elliscon in Danielson, CT (far eastern part of the state) is a small, local convention held on a Saturday early in November each year at the Ellis Regional Technical school.

There was PointCon at West Point, NY (US Military Academy)but it was cancelled in 2013 and this year and looks like it will not return.

Are you familiar with HAHGS (Hartford Area Historical Gaming Society):

Finally, Barry and I both live in Bridgewater, CT (a bit North of Danbury), about 1 hr's drive from Stamford.

Welcome to the USA, CT and TMP, Pumika. Glad to have you aboard.

You don't know it yet, but you have landed in a region full of interesting characters when it comes to gaming. (I know because I am allegedly one of them.) The authors of such diverse rules as Carnage and Glory, Gnome Wars, Trench Wars and A to Z Miniatures have all passed through your new neighborhood at one time or another. At some point, I'm sure you'll run into many of them.

In addition to what was listed above, you just missed ConnCon, which is a mixed SciFi, board gaming and miniatures convention held every March in downtown Stamford.

If you plan to attend Historicon in July, you already know about HMGS. Go to the Clubs and Dealers section of the HMGS web page and you will find the link to the CT Game Club which meets in Stratford (about 45 minutes to the north of Stamford) every second Saturday of the month. (Some of the aforementioned characters can be found there.) The CT Club web page lists what games are scheduled for each month.

That should be enough to keep you busy until Historicon.

Enjoy the games.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the useful info!
For next weeks I will be busy finding a home and get myself and my family settled in the area. Also all my good stuff is still stacked in a container on it's way over the Atlantic. But I am sure that my time will come…
Looking forward to it!
