Doing a little building during vacation, making…buildings.

Ran out of balsa wood for doors for some Colonial stucco and brick structures.

Then I got me an idea. I used a square of foamboard (they were recessed doors) bigger than the door space, scored them with an exacto, painted black, then drybrushed with a light brown and finally white, and the damn thing looked JUST like a wooden door!

Used some strip of paper painted an iron rusty color and glued them on as metal support pieces, and damn! Was as convincing as balsa, with half the fuss!

You can see them in my pics last night on my Facebook (can't upload pics to TMP on my phone).

Anyone wanting to join my FB, just freind request Bart Allen (not the nerds dressed in Flash costumes (there is like 20 of them on FB), my FB pic is me in Canes gear next to Sebastian and it's Bart from Florida)

Scored foamboard, properly (easilly) drybrushed, makes great wood!

Also, as the doorways are usually the weakest part of a foamboard structure, the backing piece gives it all the support you need.

This is just great!

It DOES sound like a good idea – especially for rpg.

Foam core is second only to duct tape in general usefulness. Neat idea.

Been doing it for years, Smokey. Sorry, should have let you know.
