Hey everyone, As long as i've still got my old glory army card, I was thinking of starting a new period. I've settled on 1812 and am currently looking for a set of rules. So far the only black powder era ruleset I own is Black Powder, but i was looking for a more dedicated set of rules. I'd prefer a set designed for 1812 as opposed to having to fiddle with one designed for say, Napoleonics. A campaign system is a plus but not a deal breaker. Any recommendations? |

I have no experience with it but I believe I have seen a set called Rockets Red Glare that has been given positive marks on TMP. There is also a blog called Black Powder Niagara(IIRC)which may be useful and I think that Knuckleduster miniatures may have some info as well as a link to the aforementioned blog. Good luck! Mike |

The Perfect Captain's website has both a tactical set of rules and a map campaign game that are very professionally produced and well worth examining. Both are free; the authors request you make a donation to charity if you download them. |

28mm? Load up on the Old Glory, but also check out the Conquest Indians (if you are doing battles that involve the Redsticks, Cherokees and the Northern Indians) I have built up a New Orleans set of figures in 15mm, and a Seminole Wars set, and besides New Orleans, TSATF looks like it works out pretty damn well. New Orleans would be great with TSATF if you were doing the skirmishes and night raids leading up to the battle, methinks.
Or maybe TSATF for the little discussed actions on the West side of the reever, on the big battle day. Small units, attacks and counter attacks, it would work for that side. |

Chippewa? It's an old system dating back to the eighties or early nineties, but War of 1812 dedicated. |

TSATF or Brother v Brother. Or go to the Gettysburg Area Gamers website and download the free FIW rules, and tweak the stat cards to taste. Eric |
