The Mercenary Sea #1

"NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT"

Action and adventure set in 1938—The South Seas. Japan has invaded China. War in Europe is imminent. Ex-bootlegger Jack Harper captains The Venture, a refitted German U-Boat, with a crew of expats, mercenaries and treasure hunters. They do whatever it takes to stay afloat, often running up against pirates, headhunters, spies, and soldiers. They're always one step away from the greatest score of their lives…or their certain demise.

"An amazing new high adventure book, I can't wait to read more of The Mercenary Sea." —Ed Brubaker

Normally I don't way in on these things but this comic is pretty good.

If Brubaker likes it, it's probably pretty good. He's the genius behind _Fatale_, which I will weigh in on and say you should all buy.

1939 Peiking is called Beijing in the comic, not as in normal researched comic portrayals as Peiking(Beijing) this is either revisionism or a 'don't care' attitude from the artist. The work is your normal computer generated comic (very bright and primary with chunky shapes and although a nice idea badly executed (although I wish I had even those skills)"from an old time graphic comics lover-remember Heavy Metal?)
Still nice idea to play theses escapades using the wonderful Pulp Alley rules. Cheers and happy gaming. (Now to scratch build a 1918 German Uboat 8)

Horrible art. That stopped me cold! Imagine what John Severin, Joe Kubert, Wally Wood, or Mark Schultz could have done with this kind of material.
