It will retail for $39.95 USD USD, but we're offering it here to you for $30 USD as a thank you for your pivotal role in completing this project.

There's no $30 USD pledge level. It jumps straight from $6 USD for the pdf to $40 USD for the print copy. Admittedly, paying 5 cents for US shipping is a bargain, but there's no real discount on the book by backing.

On the plus side, it does have a gorilla on the cover, which always improves sales.

I would presume they are going to charge shipping on top of the cover price once the kickstarter is over, so there would appear to be an incentive unless you have a local shop you think you can get to carry it.

At any rate, $6 USD for the .pdf alone is a steal!

Ping Pong07 Apr 2014 11:27 a.m. PST

IIRC, shipping is covered. You get a book, a pdf, and "free" shipping for $40. USD Maybe cost included shipping is a better term.

The Beast Rampant07 Apr 2014 11:31 a.m. PST

KS shipping is typically covered, so long as you are in the country of origin.

The Beast Rampant07 Apr 2014 11:34 a.m. PST

But $40 USD for a hardcover with no color pages is decidedly steep. HC usually means at least a few pages of glossy eye candy.

EDIT: Oh, OK, that's stretch goal fodder. My mistake.

Backed!

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian07 Apr 2014 12:12 p.m. PST

Agreed, the pdf is a steal, just odd that they'd cite $30 USD for the book for KS backers when the pledge level doesn't exist. Media shipping in the US wouldn't reach $10 USD even with box costs (you could send ~8 pounds of books for that much) so why $40 USD for the book pledge?

Maybe it's a typo on the KS page.

The Gonk07 Apr 2014 1:38 p.m. PST

I'm in, for $65 USD! I've had a lot of fun with S2 over the years, since being introduced to it at Historicon.

Great looking game --as usual Scott !!!!

Thanks, Russ!

We folded USA shipping costs into each pledge level. The book is $30 USD as opposed to $39.95 USD MSRP, and you will get USPS first class or priority shipping on it.

That's why it says "shipping included" for USA backers. I am sorry if this is misleading. We did not intend it to be that way. Keeping in mind that you also get the $6 USD ($11.95 MSRP) PDF with that, we think it's a pretty good deal.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the enthusiasm!

P.S. I thought about putting Ape-Austen in a Firefighter outfit, but that would be going too far!

1905Adventure07 Apr 2014 4:39 p.m. PST

I'm in for the PDF. $6 USD is a ridiculously good price. I've enjoyed 3rd edition and like what I'm seeing in the rules PDF that backers get.

Fergal08 Apr 2014 6:42 a.m. PST

Backed and hoping for a great turnout! This is the best set of super hero skirmish gaming rules out there. No one else gives you this much granular control in a such a tight rules system.

Until I found this set of rules, I'd given up trying to game with supers, RPG isn't my bag and nothing else was really out there.

If you're a fan of the genre, you can't go wrong.

full disclosure – I'm a huge fanboy and began making super hero minis once I bought the rules a few years ago!

Spudeus08 Apr 2014 7:05 a.m. PST

A full color version of the rules and a background book would be tres cool! I know there are no guarantees, but I will be a backer at some level.

Thanks, folks!

I'm in for the PDF, HC book and dice. I'm lovin those dice!

CondoGamer1512 Apr 2014 9:36 a.m. PST

Thanks!

The dice are a nice idea, but, at $2.00 USD a die I'd have to think about getting more beyond what comes with the KS pledge.

Better discount than the Old Glory Army membership, which is saying something.

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian23 Apr 2014 9:34 a.m. PST

Project cancelled just now, with about four days and $2,700 USD to go. I know they were going head to head with a bunch of other unfortunately-timed superhero KS projects (mostly roleplaying, plus the juggernaut of Sentinel Tactics) but they were just about to edge into the final rush period. Seems a little premature to me. If nothing else, Tactics was ending today, and that was the biggest competition for KS dollars he was facing.

Still, Scott knows his numbers better than we do, and apparently plans on continuing with getting it released in some other way.

tberry740323 Apr 2014 3:29 p.m. PST

I wonder it the OG discount is going away also.

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian23 Apr 2014 3:52 p.m. PST

It was only ever going to be valid if funding was reached, so no half-off sale. You still get a "mere" 40% off everything all the time with an OG Army membership, which runs $50 USD a year. A bargain in my experience.
