I've added 2 units using the Old Gory figures (28mm). Yes, I know they didn't wear the bearskins in the field, but who can resist painting them wearing them? Not I!
The 7th Infantry Regiment, or Royal Fusiliers
The 23rd Infantry Regiment or Royal Welch (sic) Fusiliers - the uniforms were identical aside from minor variations in the details of the lace. More pictures and the usual discussion on my blog at: link Peter |

They should have worn them. They look great. |

Did they serve in the New World during the War of 1812? I recall seeing a watercolor plate just as they are here, with grey overalls, bearskins – but red wings as you note – dated for 1812-15 in North America. GdeP |

By the way, funny typo – Old "Gory" indeed! |

I have a battalion of Connoisseur Fusiliers that I started six months ago and got frustrated with and put aside. I will revisit them at some stage as they are half done. Your OG figs look really nice – I like the bearskins. Makes a change from shakos! |

GdeP; - the 7th fusiliers served at New Orleans, - the 21st fusiliers served at Bladensburg, North Point and New Orleans, and - the 23rd fusiliers served in Nova Scotia 1808 – 1810, so not during the War of 1812. p.s. without bearskins |

GdP Yep perhaps a "Freudian Typo" considering the real nature of war, LOL! I agree the bearskins look way too spiffy not to have my figures wear them, even if they didn't wear them in the field. As commented – they should have! Brian – you should take up the brush and finish them – just whistle "the British Grenadier" as you go and they will be done in no tme (that tune quickly becomes an ear worm!) |
